Community Highlights: Meet Jennifer Prado of Prado Music Academy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Prado.

Hi Jennifer, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I am a concert pianist and the founder of Prado Music Academy. I started playing the piano with my father at the age of three and continued my music education in Spain until I graduated from the Madrid Royal Conservatory of Music in Piano Performance and earned a Master’s Degree in Musical Composition and Piano Performance from the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid, as well as a Master’s Degree in Education from the Complutense University of Madrid.

During my professional career, I have won more than twenty prizes in both national and international piano competitions and have performed worldwide at concert halls in Europe and America.

Combining my professional career with my passion for education, I started teaching at the age of 16. At that time I realized that music could be thought of in a more creative and fascinating way. Since then, I have always had the dream of starting a music school where I could instill and transmit my passion for music to others, and in which every lesson was a magical musical journey for every student while following a structured curriculum that helps them to achieve their music goals.

After my graduation, I worked on making my dream come true and opened Prado Music Academy here in Granda Hills, Los Angeles.

I have been very fortunate to be able to find the best instructors in the field, and together we have created a solid, committed, and amazing team. We are currently teaching music lessons to children and adults.

Being the Prado Music Academy founder does not prevent me from overseeing all the logistics and making sure that my team of teachers and students have everything they need.

Currently, I am working on different educational projects and developing Prado Music Academy’s Piano and Music Initiation music curriculum.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I firmly believe that following your dreams is the key to happiness, even if that means that the road won’t always be smooth.

When I moved to the United States, almost 8 years ago, I didn’t know the language very well, and I didn’t know how the system worked in terms of establishing a business. I was very determined to follow my dream, so I started taking intensive English lessons to understand and teach fluently as well as educating myself about the first steps needed to open my business. Full of uncertainties and fears, but with lots of motivation, ideas, and most importantly, sure that it was my dream, Prado Music Academy came to life.

One of the most challenging parts of opening Prado Music Academy was the advertisement. Thankfully, my hard work, discipline, and passion made everything fall into place. It was the beginning of an amazing journey that I do not regret and wouldn’t change under any circumstance.

Ultimately, the arduous pandemic situation that we faced a couple of years ago required me to adjust suddenly and transition from my face-to-face academic curriculum to virtual education. We are currently offering both in-person and online music lessons.

I am incredibly grateful to be a part of the Granada Hills community. I have met amazing people here and am looking forward to future projects.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Our expertise is what sets us apart. All our teachers are high-level musicians, who graduated from the best Conservatories and Universities, and were hand-picked for their enthusiasm and patience. We are a dedicated team committed to our student’s success and extremely passionate about sharing our passion for music with others. We are trained to offer the best music experience to all of our students and we can teach all levels, from beginners to advanced students, and all music styles (classical, modern, jazz, rock, pop, and much more).

We are known for our innovative and comprehensive teaching methods, professionalism, and our playful approach to teaching music, especially with younger students.

We offer lessons on a wide range of instruments. Our specialties include piano, drum, cello, electric or acoustic guitar, voice/singing, ukulele, violin, and viola lessons. As well as music software and recording lessons.

In addition, Prado Music Academy provides exciting performance opportunities during the year. We encourage our students to use this chance to express themselves, impress others, and boost their self-confidence! There is nothing more rewarding than seeing our student’s pride after their performances.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
I strongly recommend to everyone that is starting out, to commence with little goals up to the big one.

It is really important to plan and determine each step ahead. Please ask for advice if needed, and most importantly, believe in yourself, your ability, and your potential. Do not give up on your dream.
