Today we’d like to introduce you to Javier Bello.

Hi Javier, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?

Tailoring has always been part of my life. I come from a family of tailors, so from an early age I learned that good tailoring is not only about sewing — it is about proportion, precision, patience, and understanding how a garment should make someone feel.

Over the years, I developed my own approach to the craft, working with everything from everyday clothing to luxury garments, formalwear, and bridal pieces. That experience eventually led me to build Santa Monica Tailor by Bello, where I personally work with my clients and remain closely involved in every garment that comes through the shop.

For me, tailoring is very personal. Every client, every body, and every garment is different, and that is what makes the work special. I believe in traditional craftsmanship, careful attention to detail, and service that feels personal rather than rushed.

My philosophy is simple: every garment is treated as if it were the only garment we have.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

The road has not always been easy. Building a business while maintaining a high standard of craftsmanship requires patience, discipline, and consistency. One of the biggest challenges has been balancing the demand for fast service with the time and attention that true tailoring requires.

There have also been the normal challenges that come with growing a business — earning clients’ trust, building a reputation, managing busy seasons, and making sure the quality of the work never suffers as the business grows.

Those challenges have taught me to be more patient, more organized, and even more committed to my craft. I believe that difficult moments are part of building something meaningful, and they have helped shape the way I run my business today.

Santa Monica Tailor by Bello is a full-service tailoring and alterations studio specializing in men’s and women’s clothing, formalwear, bridal, and high-end garments. My focus is on fit, proportion, craftsmanship, and personal attention to every client.

What sets us apart is the level of care and precision we bring to each garment. I personally oversee the work and believe that tailoring should never feel rushed or impersonal. Whether it is a simple alteration or a more complex piece requiring handwork and detailed construction, the goal is always to preserve the integrity of the garment while improving the way it fits and feels.

I am especially proud of the trust we have built with our clients. Many bring us garments that are valuable to them financially, personally, or both, and I take that responsibility very seriously.
