Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmyn Joyce.
Jasmyn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
This is always such an interesting question as I feel the journey is constantly evolving and I just continue to follow what feels right. Also, I never really know where to begin because the journey to where I am now began long before I even knew it. I have been very intuitive for most of my life (hello Scorpio sun!) I always loved dancing and feeling into my body, creating, organizing and nurturing! After graduating high school, I didn’t really have a clear path of what I wanted to do next. I remember feeling like I needed a break from both school and sports so I took a semester off to get grounded. The semester off basically turned into three years off as I continued to work jumping from job to job unclear of my purpose or passion. In 2007 at the young age of 20, I got pregnant and in 2008, I became a mom to a beautiful baby boy and my life was suddenly filled with so much purpose. After he was born, I began practicing yoga at my local gym as a way to clear my head, move/ reconnect with my body and get one full hour just for me. In 2009, right after Kingston’s first birthday and separating from his father, I knew it was time to take the leap and do something I had always dreamed of, go to nursing school, I knew I wanted to be of service, help other people to feel their best, and at the very least develop new skills and knowledge that will help me take better care for my family. It wasn’t easy raising a baby, attending school all day and working at night. But thank goodness for that youthful energy, a mother who loved her grandson. Always taking life one day at a time, and also a little cannabis. I graduated the nursing program in 2010 and started working as an LVN.
Shortly after starting my first nursing job, I found out I was pregnant again. (Clearly, I was never taught how to track my cycle) Halfway through this pregnancy, I got a huge surprise when the ultrasound revealed that my growing baby was actually TWINS, oh ya and they had twin to twin transfusion, a rare pregnancy condition that can affect identical twins. An emergency surgery was scheduled at USC the very next day. Dr. Chmait was able to save both girls and in 2011, I became a mom to three kids under three. One of the most intense years of my life. Full survival mode. The days were long but to be honest, that year flew by. We moved to Costa mesa. OC and the vibe was right. The first thing I noticed was they had yoga everywhere and I was so excited to expand my practice out of the gym and into a studio. For the girls one year well-baby visit, we tried a new pediatrician. During the appt, I mentioned how Khloe was very contracted and had tight muscles on the entire right side of her body. Our Dr. recommended we get an MRI to see what could be going on. On Halloween 2012, we got Khloes cerebral palsy diagnosis and a referral to start physical therapy. Just like all challenges leading up to this, I did my best to remain calm, knowledgeable and focused on doing the next right thing, physical therapy. After spending some time with her at therapy, I started to observe how similar PT and yoga were and thought I would take a yoga teacher training to help me gain a better idea of why the poses were beneficial and how I could apply them with Khloe. Let me just throw it out there that teaching yoga wasn’t actually my goal, but instead I just wanted to learn what I could to help Khloe at home.
What you wasn’t expecting was to have a complete life transformation, deepen my capacity for self-love, dive into eastern healing modalities, resonate with energy, life force, prana, sound healing, and using plants and food for medicine. It was everything you was seeking in nursing school & just the beginning of the journey to my soul’s highest evolution. Since that first 200 teacher training in 2013. You have completed over 1000 hours of teacher trainings from multiple educators and yoga therapy training from Loyola Marymount University. I have spent the last eight years following my heart and saying yes to what lights me up. I have taught group classes, created a market hosting wedding day wellness events for brides during their bachelorette party’s & morning of wedding day. I worked closely with Xanadu Events Co. teaching yoga at their large events as well as work closely with them to build out a mid-day meditation/ mindfulness programs for both corporate & public schools for grades k-.8. While keeping busy with events, I was also developing my private yoga therapy practice where I work with individuals in a 1×1 setting meeting them exactly where they are and helping them to reach their goals physically, mentally, & spiritually. Each session is infused with intake, yoga, breathing exercises, bodywork, reiki, essential oils, and education to help inspire creating more mindful moments in your daily life. I specialize in women’s health, pain & stress management and athletic recovery and performance.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of my biggest obstacles have been healing myself from body image struggles and eating disorders. Navigating raising kids and building my business as a single mom. Managing my time, making sure I am pouring into all the areas of my life to feel more balanced. After becoming a mom for the second time and teaching 6+ classes at 104 degrees, my adrenals and hormones were screaming for my attention and my journey into holistic hormone health began. Another one we can all relate to was COVID literally stopping all wedding, school & corporate events. From taking place over the past year.
As you know, we’re big fans of Habits & Rituoils. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My private practice is a collection of school-based knowledge, research and intuitive wisdom downloaded over the past 12 years during nursing school, 1000+ hours of yoga & yoga RX trainings, reiki certifications, bodywork (intuitive massage), and hours of online trainings and research in women’s health & the endocrine system. I feel so honored to be able to hold space and show up for each of my clients in a one-on-one environment. The focus of my practice is women’s health, period education, and prenatal/ postpartum support. My sub focus is on pain management, stress management, and improving strength and flexibility, consultation is always required for new clients. The first part of the consultation allows us to review your health history and current lifestyle practices. We will also spend time assessing breathing patterns, mobility, and posture. The second part of the consultation will include healing bodywork, reiki, essential oils, sound healing and meditation. After your consultation, we will discuss a treatment plan that aligns with your desired outcome and goals. Typically clients come back once a month, every other week, or every week depending on their own baseline and desired outcome.

How do you think about luck?
As hard as it is to admit due to all the challenges we faced during 2020. I was blessed with a year of good luck and fortune. I was able to home school my kids (which is hard as hell but was always a dream) invest in a pop-up trailer to take the kid crew on monthly adventures. Pour back into my business and birth habits and rituoils which started as a small oily team of less than 20 and has grown into a team of over 400. I was able to co-create the habits and rituoils 2022 lifestyle planner and open up an online shop offering some of my favorite swag products like beanies, bucket hats, dad hats, tee shirt dresses, zodiac coffee mugs, bandannas and so much more to come!
