Community Highlights: Meet Jasmine Noghrey of Joojeh Joy Occupational Therapy, A Professional Corporation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Noghrey.

jasmine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey has always been centered around helping people grow, learn, and reach their fullest potential. I spent 10 years working in special education, supporting children and adults with special needs in a variety of settings. That experience shaped the way I approach my work today and taught me how important it is to see each person as an individual, understand their needs, and celebrate progress in all its forms.

I eventually pursued occupational therapy, where I was able to bring together my interests in child development, sensory processing, mental health, and helping people become more independent in their everyday lives. I also became an educator, teaching and mentoring future occupational therapy professionals, which has been another meaningful part of my career.

After working in different clinical and educational settings, I reached a point where I wanted to build something of my own that reflected my values and the kind of care I wanted to provide. That led me to start Joojeh Joy Occupational Therapy, my own pediatric occupational therapy practice. Building my business has been an exciting and sometimes challenging journey, but it has given me the freedom to be creative, connect with families, and provide individualized support that feels meaningful to me.

Today, I wear several hats as an occupational therapist, professor, special education educator, and business owner. Each role has shaped me in a different way, and I think what connects them all is my passion for helping others feel supported, capable, and understood. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but I also feel like I’m just getting started. I’m excited to continue growing Joojeh Joy and creating more opportunities to support children and families in my community.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting my own business has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve done, but it’s also pushed me outside my comfort zone in ways I didn’t expect. As an occupational therapist, I’m used to focusing on my clients and helping families navigate challenges, but running a business means learning an entirely different side of things, from the administrative and financial responsibilities to marketing myself, building relationships, and figuring things out as I go.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning to do everything myself while balancing my different roles as a clinician, educator, and business owner. When you work for yourself, there isn’t always someone to turn to for answers, and you have to be comfortable making decisions, taking risks, and learning from mistakes. There have been moments of uncertainty, but I’ve learned that you don’t have to have everything figured out to take the next step.

I think one of the biggest lessons has been trusting myself and recognizing that growth takes time. It’s easy to compare yourself to people who are further along in their careers or businesses, but everyone’s journey looks different. I’ve learned to celebrate the small wins, give myself grace when things don’t go as planned, and keep moving forward. Looking back, the challenges have helped me become more confident, independent, and resilient, both personally and professionally.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Joojeh Joy Occupational Therapy is my pediatric occupational therapy practice, built around the idea that every child deserves to feel understood, supported, and empowered to reach their potential. I specialize in helping children develop the skills they need to participate more confidently and independently in everyday life, while supporting families with practical strategies they can use at home and in their daily routines.

Our services include developmental evaluations, occupational therapy consultations, sensory processing support, feeding consultations, and sensory classes designed to support children’s regulation, exploration, and participation. We also collaborate with mental health clinics and city recreational centers to bring sensory-based experiences and supportive programming to children and families in different community settings. I love being able to extend occupational therapy beyond the traditional clinical setting and make these resources accessible to more people.

What sets Joojeh Joy apart is the combination of my backgrounds in occupational therapy, special education, and behavioral therapy, along with my 10 years of experience working with individuals with special needs. I look at the whole child, not just a diagnosis or a set of developmental milestones. I want to understand what a child is experiencing, what might be making everyday activities challenging, and how we can help them succeed in a way that feels meaningful for them and their family. I also value collaboration with caregivers and other professionals because I believe the most meaningful progress happens when everyone feels equipped to support the child.

The name Joojeh Joy is especially meaningful to me because I wanted my brand to reflect warmth, connection, and the joy that comes from seeing children grow and accomplish things that may once have felt difficult. I am proud to have built a practice that reflects my own values and allows me to provide personalized care while exploring creative ways to support children in their homes, schools, clinics, and communities.

Ultimately, I want families to know that they don’t have to wait until they have all the answers to seek support. Whether they have questions about their child’s development, sensory needs, or feeding, I want Joojeh Joy to be a place where they feel heard, supported, and guided without judgment. My goal is not just to help children build skills, but to help families better understand their children and feel empowered throughout the process. I also hope to continue growing our community partnerships and sensory programming so we can reach more children and create more opportunities for every child to participate, connect, and thrive.
