Community Highlights: Meet George Sayah of Cutting Edge Studios

Today we’d like to introduce you to George Sayah.

Hi George, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
George Sayah is a Los Angeles–based filmmaker with a background in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Texas at Austin. He started as a production assistant on reality TV shows and commercials across Texas until he picked up the camera and started shooting videos for his cousin’s lighting company. After moving to LA just before the pandemic, George honed his craft as a videographer and director of photography on shorts and indie projects. Today, he runs a boutique film production company, serves as Lead Video Producer for the DTC supplement brand BioEmblem, and recently lensed the second-unit cinematography on CATnip—a horror-comedy starring Bruce Dern and Chevy Chase about killer cats.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are a lot of ups and downs, there is still a lot to learn and there it is a fun and exciting journey. One time I worked as a behind the scenes photographer on a ridiculous political ad and they had me stand right by the camera and shoot photos of an explosion and I ruined the film shot by being startled from the explosion and getting my elbow in the shot then the director yelled at me and kicked me off set.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in full service video production from idea to final edit. Whether it is a creative project or a corporate video we strategize with our clients and partners to create fun and engaging content.

How do you think about luck?
I am lucky and unlucky all the time.
