Community Highlights: Meet Elizabeth Komet of Move Physical Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Komet.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve basically lived my whole life in movement. Before I ever became a physical therapist, I was a ski instructor, yoga teacher, and personal trainer, so helping people feel strong, confident, and capable in their bodies has always been my world.

When I went through PT school, it clicked that all those backgrounds fit together. I didn’t want rehab to be something people only do when they’re injured. I wanted it to blend naturally into strength, longevity, and the way someone actually lives their life. That idea became the foundation for Move Physical Therapy.

I started my concierge practice because I wanted to break the traditional model. Instead of rushed sessions or insurance-driven limitations, I go directly to my patients in their homes, gyms, offices, and in the environments where movement actually happens. Working outside of big healthcare systems lets me treat people the way I believe PT should be. Personalized, collaborative, and rooted in a full rehab to fitness approach.

Today my work is really about helping people return to what they love, build resilience, and feel at home in their bodies. Whether we are doing single-leg strength work in a living room or Pilates-based conditioning in a home studio, it finally feels like the perfect mix of everything that shaped me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road, but the challenges have shaped me in ways I’m really grateful for. One of the biggest early hurdles was tearing my ACL within the first two months of going full time in my business. As a physical therapist, it was humbling to suddenly be on the other side of care. But it ended up making me a much better clinician. I experienced firsthand what true vulnerability in rehab feels like, what long-term motivation actually requires, and how frustrating setbacks can be. Even more unexpectedly, the surgeon who did my knee became one of my favorite practitioners to collaborate with, and we now share many patients. That relationship would never have happened without that injury.

Another major challenge came when the Palisades fires hit. Almost overnight, nearly all of my patients were displaced or dealing with significant disruption. As a concierge practice, my work happens directly in my patients’ homes and neighborhoods, so it had a deep impact on my work and my community. It pushed me to stay flexible, support people through stress that extended far beyond their physical symptoms, and rethink what care can look like during crisis. It taught me how important it is to build a practice that can meet people where they are, even when life feels chaotic.

Both experiences reminded me that entrepreneurship and healthcare are never linear. But they also reinforced why I do this work and how meaningful it is to walk alongside people through all kinds of seasons, not just the easy ones.

As you know, we’re big fans of Move Physical Therapy. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Move Physical Therapy is a concierge rehab and fitness practice built for people with full, demanding lives. My niche is busy people, and that can look very different from one person to the next. For some it’s parents juggling work and young kids. For others it’s business travelers flying across multiple time zones, or young athletes balancing intense sports schedules with school. My goal is to bring high-level, individualized care directly into the actual rhythm of their lives.

What sets Move PT apart is how much friction I take out of the patient experience. Instead of asking people to rearrange their entire day to get to a clinic, I meet them where they are. Sometimes that’s their home or home gym. Sometimes it’s an office conference room. Sometimes it’s a park or a Pilates studio. I also meet them where they are in terms of motivation, skill level, and confidence. Every session is completely tailored to the individual, blending physical therapy, Pilates, yoga, strength training, and performance work depending on what they need in that moment.

What I want readers to know about Move PT is that it’s truly individualized care at every level. No templates, no one-size-fits-all programs, no limitations. Just thoughtful, flexible, whole-person movement coaching paired with expert rehab. My goal is to make high-quality physical therapy and fitness feel accessible, realistic, and sustainable for anyone living a busy life.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about LA is the energy of entrepreneurship here. It feels like everyone is building something. You see people selling flowers on the side of the road, small businesses growing entirely through Instagram pre-orders, and creative professionals carving out their own paths in every corner of the city. That spirit of possibility is one of the things that inspired me to start my own concierge practice. LA is full of people who take chances, follow ideas, and support each other’s dreams, and I love being part of that ecosystem.

What I like least is probably what most Angelenos would say: the traffic. I’ve gotten pretty skilled at scheduling patient locations strategically throughout the day, but every once in a while it still throws me a curveball. As someone whose work takes me all over the city, I definitely feel the impact of it. The upside is that it has made me extremely patient behind the wheel, an expert in podcasts, and a really good friend because I’m constantly calling people while I drive.
