Today we’d like to introduce you to Darren Shepherd
Hi Darren, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was always athletic and played sports as a kid then as an adult I would regularly work out, Which led me into powerlifting and Olympic weightlifting. From there I found CrossFit, Orginal I thought this was a more economical way to train than personal training, My wife started in CrossFit before me. Later I realized this was a well-balanced and efficient way to stay healthy. My friends began the gym back in 2012, I was helping with there business and in 2016 , I bought the gym from them.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It would have been easier to start from scratch, had to adjust the schedules, replace a lot of the staff, change member’s habits make sure everyone was paying. Running a CrossFit gym is not as easy as it seems. You need to build community with your members, make sure you coaches that care about your members and programming to give people results
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
ESTLR LLC, is a crossfit gym , we specialize in CrossFit, which is the sport of fitness, We want everyone to achieve there maximum potential. I think are programming is more demand then a lot of other crossfit gym, I think we have coaches that truly care about our members getting better and keep improving. We have a 7000 square ft, falicity that can handle large groups and has more open space then most crossfit gym, we have more equipment then most gyms in the area.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Fitness is always evolving but people will always need a place to blew off steam and what better way then working out
