Community Highlights: Meet Crystal Cortes of Ms Body aid

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Cortes

Hi Crystal, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Crystal, and I’m 35 years old. I started my career at 17 as a receptionist in corporate offices but quickly realized I didn’t want to spend my life in a routine job with no passion. At 24, I transitioned to massage therapy, which felt like a natural fit due to my empathetic, giving nature. After nine months of schooling, I became a certified massage therapist and began working in Los Angeles, where I also had connections in the music and sports industries.

After five years at Burke Williams Spa and doing house calls, I pursued esthetician school and developed a love for makeup and skincare. When the pandemic hit and spas closed, I found out I was pregnant with my second child, leading me to question my career path. I enrolled in a medical assistant program, graduated in nine months, and worked at an urgent care in Tarzana.

During the pandemic, a few friends asked if I could do post-op lymphatic drainage massages. I didn’t know how but was eager to learn. I found a place to train and quickly discovered my specialty—a combination of esthetics, massage therapy, and medical techniques. I later studied the Brazilian lymphatic drainage method with Tatiana, owner of Brazilian Beauty Bar, and we’ve now worked together for nearly four years. We created a unique post-op massage sequence, and I now teach other therapists the proper techniques.

I’m grateful every day to help people on their transformation journeys, and I now work with A-list celebrities, maintaining a full schedule by the grace of God.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth journey, but it’s been incredibly rewarding. The low points have helped me appreciate the high ones. I’ve faced challenges like working for bosses who didn’t value me and pushing through slow periods, staying confident in my choices. Some people even suggested I get a stable 9-to-5 job for the sake of my kids and future, but deep down, I knew that if I stayed focused and consistent, my dream of becoming a celebrity massage therapist would come true. Living in LA, surrounded by success, I couldn’t imagine my life any other way.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I started my business by promoting myself as a massage therapist and building my clientele. I currently work at Brazilian Beauty Bar and recently launched an online store, Beauty Body Aid, which will offer products for post-surgical clients starting in January.

Many people don’t realize that after surgeries like liposuction, tummy tucks, or chin liposuction, specialized compression garments, foams, and other items are necessary for a smooth recovery.

I specialize in Brazilian lymphatic drainage and post-surgical care. I’m known for being result-driven, with strong intuitive pressure, and for building lasting client relationships. What sets me apart is my authenticity and my commitment to my clients’ well-being—I’m always available, never truly clocking out.

I’m most proud of staying consistent with my passion, which has now come full circle, allowing me to teach others to love what they do and make a difference.

Lymphatic drainage isn’t just for post-surgery—it’s a detoxifying massage that supports overall health. Detoxing your lymphatic system regularly can help with weight loss, brain fog, increased energy, and overall wellness. I offer full-body and facial lymphatic drainage, skin tightening, stretch mark removal using jet plasma, and access to a sauna and cold plunge at Brazilian Beauty Bar. I also offer house calls for lymphatic drainage massages.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Lymphatic drainage massage is an important addition to any wellness routine, especially after surgery. It helps stimulate the lymphatic system, which plays a key role in detoxification, immune function, and overall health. By promoting lymph flow, this massage helps reduce swelling, speed up recovery, and improve circulation, which is especially crucial after surgery.

While it can be an investment, lymphatic drainage is worth every penny for its long-term health benefits. It’s not just about looking good—it’s about feeling good and optimizing your body’s natural healing processes. Whether you’re recovering from surgery or simply looking to enhance your overall wellness, lymphatic drainage massage is an essential step for both you and your loved ones.
