Community Highlights: Meet April McDaniel of Crown+Conquer

Today we’d like to introduce you to April McDaniel.

Hi April, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began my career at Tao Group, working under Jason Strauss and Noah Tepperberg, where I learned how to execute at scale and create experiences that resonate with people. That foundation pushed me to think about storytelling differently – about how culture, truth, and community could be at the center of how brands connect with people.

In 2016, I launched Crown+Conquer with that vision, building an agency that bridges authenticity and impact. What started as an idea has grown into a trusted partnership for brands like adidas, Google, and Spotify.

That same focus on authentic storytelling and community has carried into my newer ventures – Let It Break and Everybody’s Crazy. Let It Break is a private women’s community dedicated to providing a holistic approach to personal growth, where women can come together, share openly, and support one another, while Everybody’s Crazy is a call-in podcast I co-host with Savannah James, where real stories are told without filter or ego.

For me, everything is connected: my agency, my community, and my podcast. It all stems from one truth: storytelling. Every space I build is rooted in honesty, where women are heard, truth is at the center, and authenticity is not negotiable.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road’s been anything but smooth. Being an entrepreneur is powerful, but it can also be thankless and exhausting. There are days when the biggest challenge is simply keeping yourself motivated, picking yourself up when you’ve been knocked down, and finding the strength to keep showing up.

For me, that’s meant learning how to stay aligned with my own voice, protecting my vision, and making sure that the work I do reflects that – especially in a space that wasn’t traditionally built for someone like me. Every hurdle has forced me to grow stronger and more intentional, and that determination is what’s allowed me to shape my ventures to what they are today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Crown+Conquer?
Crown + Conquer is a woman-led creative agency that builds cultural relevance for global brands. We specialize in strategy, storytelling, and experiences that create real connection. We’re known for pushing brands to move with intention…not trend-chasing, but truth-telling.

What sets us apart is our ability to reimagine storytelling with clients who want to do something different, spark conversation, and show up in ways that feel fresh and real. In a world that’s changing faster than ever, our work is rooted in staying close to culture and community, while helping brands navigate that change with clarity and authenticity. At our core, we exist to help brands not only keep up with the pace of change, but to move it forward.

Any big plans?
My future plans are less about one lane and more about the throughline that connects everything I do: storytelling with purpose.

With Crown+Conquer, that means continuing to work with brands that want to break out of the expected – partners who are willing to take risks, lead with clarity, and create work that doesn’t just follow culture but shapes it.

At the same time, I’m expanding that vision beyond client work. Everybody’s Crazy and Let It Break are personal extensions of who I am and what I care about most – creating spaces where honesty, growth, and women’s voices are at the center.

Looking ahead, my focus is on deepening that impact across all of my ventures. I want to keep building platforms that invite people to show up fully, speak their truth, and move forward with intention.
