Check Out Sophia Mayer Pliner’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Mayer Pliner.

Hi Sophia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story starts with my parents and everything they have done for me. I started in the business as a baby and out of 500 babies, I was one of the chosen for a Carters Winter campaign. From there, it’s the hard work behind the scenes with my mom and dad. From wardrobe, photoshoots, auditions, castings, emails, social media and now over 115 gigs! Commercial, Film, TV, Documentaries, Internet, Print, Reenactments, PSA’s, Music Videos, and all the great student films with AFI, USC Film, Loyola Marymount, LACC and New York Film Academy.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Biggest challenge is just like anything, you just keep on going, getting better to details and realize luck is where preparation meets opportunity. Focus on doing my best and learning more of the craft and skills gives me the best chance at booking roles. Best help is taking nothing personal, I do my best and try to get better. The more people I meet and work with has also helped in building contacts and connections in person and via social media.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I was in a Progressive Insurance commercial that was the most aired commercial for that year which was really cool. I am the child in the car seat with an actress mom, as the Rate Suckers try to get us! One of the reenactments I was cast to play the daughter of Jeffery MacDonald, one of the most litigated murder cases in American criminal history released on Investigation Discovery channel.

What sets me apart, I have a great team with my mom and dad, all the time and patience. I also have a lot of drive, I am very artsy, creative and I am bilingual “Brazilian Portuguese”.

What are your plans for the future?
I continue to study at the Palos Verdes Performing Arts Conservatory and working with more and more dialog. I am looking forward to all the future opportunities and projects.
