Check Out Shreya Jaswal’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shreya Jaswal.

Hi Shreya, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I have been around music most of my life and started playing, singing, and writing when I was 12 and started playing out in a cover band soon after that. Music wasn’t something I was going to pursue as a career initially, but I realized very quickly how deeply I resonated with it and could not imagine myself having a 9-5. I’m a 19-year-old singer-songwriter, presently based in Hollywood, Los Angeles, and have been making music for over 3 years as an independent artist and songwriter.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Pursuing a career in music is anything but smooth but that’s what makes it worth the time and effort spent on it. One of my biggest challenges initially was telling my family that I wanted to move to LA and work on music full time, they had their doubts but they’re completely on board now.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an independent artist and songwriter. Songwriting has always been something that came very naturally to me, sometimes I don’t even remember what my process was for certain songs… it’s like I enter a different dimension. I’m very proud of certain projects I’ve recently been working on with my producer Blanco Leal and am very excited to share them in the near future.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
The thing that surprises people I work with most is usually my age or the fact that I have synesthesia which is a sensory disorder that many musicians are blessed with, it makes my mind associate every sound with a colour.
