Today we’d like to introduce you to Roman Vashkevych.
Hi Roman, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always loved creating and filming things. I remember that even in school, I would shoot little music videos on my mobile phone, edit them, and show them to my friends. Then, in 2013, a friend offered to introduce me to the owner of a company that specialized in wedding videography. I didn’t take the idea very seriously at first, but I decided to give it a try. After a short interview, I was accepted as an intern, and about a month later, I started shooting weddings on my own. At the time, I was attending university Monday through Friday and spending every Saturday and Sunday filming weddings. I absolutely loved it. I was completely immersed in the work, and after about six months, I became the top videographer in the company. I started getting their best projects, which motivated me even more. I worked in wedding videography for about two years. Eventually, I started feeling a little burned out and realized I wanted to try something new. In 2015, I found a business partner, and we decided to launch our own video production company focused on creating advertising content for YouTube and TV. Things moved very quickly. In the beginning, we intentionally kept our prices low, which helped us attract a lot of clients and build a strong reputation. As we grew, we gradually increased our rates and started taking on bigger and more ambitious projects. By 2017, companies from other countries were coming to us to produce their video campaigns. We had the opportunity to work with brands such as ASUS, DJI, Cooper & Hunter, Samsung, Reebok, and many others. In 2019, I opened a large production studio in Kyiv, Ukraine, Ader Studio. It’s a large creative space with seven different shooting stages that are available for productions and events, and it is still operating today. In 2024, I moved to the United States and started my own content creator journey. Through my blog, I share my experience and teach videographers and editors how to create impressive effects using simple apps and even just a smartphone camera. At the same time, AI has been developing incredibly fast, so I started actively integrating AI into my content and showing people how to use these tools to create creative and viral videos. Also in 2024, I founded VMV Marketing Agency. Together with my team, we help local businesses in Los Angeles grow through social media. We analyze brands, develop marketing strategies, create content, and manage social media advertising campaigns. Pretty much my entire adult life has been connected to content creation in one way or another. I’m grateful that today, through my blog and videos, I can influence the way people create content and hopefully contribute to the next generation of trends. What I enjoy most is being part of the process of creating something new, whether it’s a video, a visual effect, a new workflow, or even a trend that other creators will eventually pick up and make their own.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve always tried to look at life with a positive mindset. Of course, there have been difficult periods, including months when I barely had any money, but I never let those moments bring me down.
I remember one particular moment around 2017. My girlfriend and I were living in a small apartment, and our rent was due in a few days. I didn’t have enough money, so I decided to take out a loan. But literally as I was standing outside the bank, a client I had recently met called me. He said he wanted to work with us, and the next day he transferred us $12,000.
There have been many similar moments in my life. I don’t think they were simply coincidences. I always focused on creating a quality product and working extremely hard.
I don’t really believe in luck or fate. I believe in consistent work. In the long run, hard work makes even the most difficult path easier and can lead to incredible results.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a videographer with more than 13 years of experience in content creation. I specialize in commercial video production, creating advertising content for brands, especially for social media.
In recent years, I’ve also been actively growing my own blog, where I share my knowledge about filming, video editing, and using AI to create content. I enjoy not only creating videos myself, but also finding simple and creative ways to help other people improve their skills.
Throughout my career, I’ve had many advertising collaborations where I created videos completely from scratch. In some projects, I was the director, videographer, actor, and editor all at once. It’s definitely a challenging but very interesting experience, because I get to control the entire creative process, from the first idea to the final shot.
One of the things I’m most proud of is that my videos on Instagram regularly reach hundreds of thousands of views, with some even reaching millions. But for me, it’s not just about the numbers. I love seeing people use my tutorials, learn new techniques, and improve their skills. I’m really happy to be a part of that process.
What I think sets me apart is the combination of more than a decade of hands-on production experience with my constant desire to experiment with new technologies. I enjoy taking a complex idea, simplifying it, and turning it into content that is creative, useful, and easy for a large audience to understand.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is being able to enjoy life, create new things, and spend time with people I care about.
I really love traveling and try to get out into nature at least once a month. For example, in September I went to Yosemite National Park, and in August I went camping near Malibu. I love changing my surroundings, discovering new places, and simply taking a break from the fast pace of city life.
I also play tennis, enjoy spending time with my friends, going out, having a good time, laughing, and just enjoying life.
And of course, creativity makes me really happy. I love coming up with new ideas, filming, experimenting, and seeing the final result come together.
I guess, for me, happiness is about having a good balance between doing work I love, experiencing new things, traveling, and having great people around me.
