Today we’d like to introduce you to Rafael Vargas.
Hi Rafael, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story, what I walked through, how I started, and how I got to where I am right now.
To define this, I would have to explain where I am right now. And where I am is in a very harmonic place. Which is, I’m married with a beautiful woman, who happens to be an intelligent artist, who I resonate aloud with, and I’m happy to have as part of my present.
We just started a new production company called Randy Productions LLC. Randy Productions and the Randy Network, extends to entertainment, communication, science and many other branches. In order to create content that flows from our hearts and from our artistry. Because we’ve been working as actors, producers, performers, for many years this is the path we choose.
Personally, I started liking poetry early in my life, but told, that was not a path to have a good life. Then I liked to be an actor, but I was told I was not good looking enough to be an actor. Then I wanted to be at least the guy in the news or any comedian. And that was not even the look that I was getting from people. The final decision is that I should be a radio announcer. Because I was so not good looking that people should not see me, they should just hear me. And I took it as a badge of honor and I tried that. I started my artistic endeavors.
The first rule that I learned is, if you want to be a radio announcer, you have to know a little bit about everything. That being said, I started with communication, philosophy, psychology, marketing, design, music, voice, acting, stand-up comedy, improv comedy, etc. I learned from all these things a little bit and from some other a little more; to the point to feel prepared for Randy Network and Randy Productions.
So, in a nutshell, every experience is a layer of the understanding I can bring to the play we’ll be producing this spring. Performed by Jake Crossman, Tiffany Bromley, Bruce Burns, and Jasmine Kojouri in The Little Victory Theater on March 28th 2026
And the play is:
PROOF
(by David Auburn)
Coincidentally, of everything that I’ve learned, also I became a scientist philosopher. And I’m working on a mathematical proof at the same time that my lovely wife and I are producing and co-directing Proof by David Auburn.
For our upcoming work after finishing David’s Auburn ‘Proof’s Production . We are proud to bring to the stage a monologue by Dario Fo’ ‘Woman Alone’ Performed by Andrea Vargas
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Struggles are an essential part of finding a smooth path.
In clearer terms:
– I almost die when I was a baby
– I almost die when I was teenager
– I almost die when I was a young adult.
– I just want the ALMOST part to keep going.
My dad died when I was 17 but not everything is about death he also left when I was a baby.
But he love my mom; I’ve seen the letters, and the five children they have, that proves that theory.
Four siblings: three sisters and one brother. In this mix I found myself positioned as the middle child. That has the name ‘struggles’ written all over it.
But again: It is when I’ve gone through all this struggles and many more that life resolute to be smoothing along the way
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What I do, what I’m an specialist on, and what I’m known for, are different things and the same in itself. I follow my intuition in the sense of, I follow the leads of the ones that are around me. I’ve done that for a long time, and sometimes I like to follow my own lead as well. In that sense, I have become a student of many matters. The first one, as we talked before, was communication. I studied radio for a while, created some shows, and I’m known for that. Then I went in the path of acting. I follow a few crazy friends that are very artistic, and we got into making many plays in Chicago. I work very hard at that, and I’m known for that. I love performing, and I studied comedy for years, improv comedy, stand up comedy, sketch. I love to be funny, I’m known for that.
I follow another path I found harmonic in my existence, and that was: to write a bunch of songs, because I was heartbroken. Then I specialized in that, and then I specialized in the specialization, and I created a whole album, produced by myself from scratch, and I’m known for that.
I’m proud of every single one of these achievements and the ones that are coming up.
