Today we’re excited to be connecting with Priya Tahim again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.
Priya, thanks for joining us again. Just to level set a bit for folks who may have missed our last interview together, can you briefly introduce yourself?
My name is Priya Tahim, i am the proud owner of Kaur Counseling, as well as a published author and therapist.
As a practice owner, i am able to cultivate services to communities that may feel like they don’t have a voice. It’s my honor to have a practice with established, talented associates to provide care to a variety of different people, cultures, and backgrounds.
As an author, i am able to provide a voice to those who may not be ready, or able to share their own journey. My new collaboration book released in January 2025, where i share my journey of breaking the stereotype of being a divorcee as a South Asian women.
My previous publications are targeted to the youth, to help de-stigmatize topics surrounding mental health and begin important conversations in every household.
My journey began in college, where i battled anxiety & depression internally, because i felt like my voice didn’t matter. Throughout my own therapeutic journey, i’ve been able to open doors to conversations with others to instill a safe space to process and grow.
Life is hard, however we can either deal with our inner demons head on, or push them under a rug. I used to operate in the latter, until i realized that my life was worth more than my inner demons and self imposed limitations.
Today, i am proud to say that i am confident in my worth, and continue to grow with whatever life throws my way. As a therapist, i can’t stress enough how important self-reflection is, and how powerful being on the other side of the sofa can be. I want to humanize therapists and the therapeutic journey that is lifelong & important for all.
Awesome, so we reached out because we wanted to hear all about what you have been up to since we last connected.
I’m thrilled to announce the debut of my chapter in a collaborative project, “ The Desi Divorcee”, as a way to help others who feel alone in their journey, that they are not alone.
I am also excited to bring more opportunities to reach couples in upcoming couples workshops in DC & Texas. I want to expand access to therapeutic techniques to those who may shy away from the traditional therapy sense.
In 2024, i also had the pleasure of speaking about the importance of therapy & couples therapy on Top Doctors Network-which aired on several channels in the DC, MD & VA area.
