Today we’d like to introduce you to Oscar Bautista.
Hi Oscar, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always been interested in performances and community gatherings, essentially bringing people together has always been a passion of mine.
Even though I’m a bit of an introvert myself, I still find myself relishing in the energy that comes with bringing like-minded people and amazingly talented artists together.
From hosting local shows to cater and nurture local artists to providing help to local nonprofits I find myself where I am today because of that ethic of bringing people together.
I currently find myself working in productions, mainly large events whether it’s through building sites, or finding myself leading an amazing crew of people, to delegate the needs of the production.
Ultimately, my goal is to create a space in south-central that can unite all these different elements. I have a grand hope and dream that one day, south-central will be the host to one of the best venues and creative spaces in all of California.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, though I find myself surrounded by creative and talented people.
The thing that I constantly find myself up against is the lack of coordination and mindfulness that comes with serving guests in the entertainment industry.
There are too many corporate ideologies that are trying to root themselves in a process that is majorly artistic in nature.
Corporate greed and business insights have no place when trying to build communities.
I find myself in rooms where people are seen as a bottom line rather than the thing we must uphold art is a reflection of humanity.
I believe it is our job as artists and producers to highlight and protect that.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have to run from different businesses working as an operation manager, consultant, graphic designer what have you.
At the moment I find myself leading an amazing crew of talented artist and a production company that host large-scale events in Los Angeles.
My specialty is currently being able to produce and highlight my crew to get the best performance out of them while highlighting their talents, so they can shine and perform their best.
I’m proud of getting to a point in my life where I’m able to identify people’s strengths. To highlight an individual and allow them to shine on their own is one of the best things one can accomplish.
I take this into my personal endeavors as a musician and craftsperson. I’d like the idea of being able to excel at the things that I love, and I want to allow others to do the same.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
With the development of AI, I see certain aspects becoming streamlined, but ultimately when you’re thinking of grand ideas, you need the mind of a person.
As far as large-scale changes, things might become more downscaled as companies are trying to find more and more ways to pitch cash for people that honestly aren’t doing any of the work.
But ultimately at the core, the process of creating anything, whether it’s a large group production work of art, or bringing people together, you need and pathetic and talented people at the core of it.
