Today we’d like to introduce you to Magdalena Ayon.
Hi Magdalena, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began my career in Seattle, Washington, right after graduating high school. I jumped into the bridal industry with a deep love for beauty and a passion for making women feel their absolute best on one of the most important days of their lives. I was fortunate to be living with my mom at the time, which gave me the freedom to fully commit to building my career from the ground up.
Those early days were filled with trial and error, long nights, and countless hours of perfecting my craft. It took consistent dedication, patience, and a lot of days pushing through doubt and uncertainty. There were moments I questioned myself, but I kept going—driven by my love for what I do and the belief that I was meant for something greater.
With the constant support of my friends and family, I was able to build a thriving bridal business in Seattle. I’ll always be grateful for the clients who trusted me early on and helped spread the word. As I grew both personally and professionally, I eventually reached a point where I knew it was time to take things to the next level.
That’s when I made the decision to move back to Los Angeles—a bold and scary leap, but one of the best decisions I’ve made for my career. Being in LA has challenged me, inspired me, and opened doors I never imagined. It’s where I’ve truly evolved as an artist and a businesswoman. I’ve been able to express my creativity in amazing jobs but bridal will always have a permanent space in my heart.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I didn’t take the traditional path. Right after high school, while many of my peers were still figuring things out, I jumped straight into the world of bridal makeup in Seattle. I didn’t have it all figured out—but I had passion, drive, and a vision.
In the beginning, I was taking every client I could, sometimes for next to nothing, just to build my portfolio. I’d spend nights practicing on friends, watching tutorials, and trying to teach myself everything I didn’t know. There were days I felt unstoppable—and other days when I questioned whether I was good enough, talented enough, or strong enough to make it in such a competitive industry.
There were tears, there was burnout, and there were moments when I seriously considered giving up. But there were also beautiful moments: the referrals that started trickling in, the client messages that reminded me why I started. Slowly but surely, I began to build something real.
With the support of my family and friends, I built a successful business in Seattle. But deep down, I knew I wasn’t done growing. I needed to push myself even more—so I made the move back to LA, chasing bigger dreams with a stronger heart.
It wasn’t easy—but nothing about this journey ever was. And that’s what makes it all so meaningful. Every setback taught me resilience. Every high reminded me of my purpose. And today, standing where I am as a makeup artist, I carry both the struggles and the beautiful memories with pride
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a makeup artist, and I’ve built my career on something deeply personal. From the very beginning, my approach has never been about masking someone
What I’m most proud of isn’t just the business I’ve built—it’s that I’ve done it while doing what I love. Makeup is my art, but people are my purpose. I truly care. I listen, I connect, and I hold space for every person who sits in my chair. That connection—that trust—is what sets me apart.
When I decided to move back to Los Angeles to grow even further, it was scary, but it felt right. And it’s been one of the best choices I’ve made. It’s allowed me to evolve not just as a makeup artist, but as a woman building a career rooted in passion, heart, and authenticity.
