Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Thegreat
Hi Kristin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I got started on my fashion journey at a very early age. My talents and interests were always encouraged and nurtured by my mother. So, I felt free to express myself creatively. A pivotal moment happened through my art program in high school. We had an incredible program focused on the arts, and by senior year, I knew my focus would be fashion. On graduation day, I was offered my first internship based on a fashion design contest challenge. I won. I was 17.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My creative journey has certainly NOT been a smooth road. Like any good adventure, there should and will be trials, challenges, and road blocks.
In truth, everyone has a different experience and perhaps some shared experiences too.
In my case, some of the most difficult roast blocks come in the form of LIFE. Finances, a lack of opportunities, emotional challenges, health issues, loss, and stagnation.
However, much like the great adventure novels, you have to stay focused on the bigger picture. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. If you keep your focus and stay positive, you can get through any and every challenge. “As the ten thousand things rise and fall… rise and fall.” – Lao Tzu
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a contemporary fashion designer. I create garments without any western fastening methods. No zippers, buttons, hook and eye, etc. I am known for my abstract textile designs and for my organic shapes infused into my designs. I also create costumes. My fashion POV set me a part very early on as I am truly one of a kind.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Currently, I am focused on growth and expansion. I am looking for people who would like to know more about my journey, as well as people who are interested in investing in my brand and design studio.
