Today we’d like to introduce you to Jourdan Guyton-Brandon.
Hi Jourdan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been immersed in the entertainment space for over a decade. I began my career at the Maury Show back in 2010. I’ve worked in everything from production, and casting, to being in front of the camera. In 2019, I sold a comedic web series I co-created to a major network. Just when I thought my production career was about to take off, the pandemic hit.
In the matter of moments, I went from thriving to collecting unemployment. After a few weeks of feeling defeated, I had to come to the realization that my purpose was not on pause and that there was more impact to be made. I started my business in my NYC bedroom. With no degree in business, I knew that I’d figure it out and started cold pitching to restaurants to do their social media – since they were truly the only businesses operating beside the hospitals due to COVID.
I started this business because I’m a go-getter and I can’t sit still for long. I saved a few unemployment checks, hired a VA and then, finally my first business coach! I then went on to begin showing up online unapologetic and seeking the dream clients I desired to serve –> heart-centered WOMEN.
The rest is history. I hit the six-figure mark before even celebrating my one-year anniversary, grew my IG following by over 80K and have a community of revolutionary women enrolled in my group coaching program. What makes this business unique is my experience in entertainment and the mission we have to amplify the voices of entrepreneurs who want to make this world a better place by helping others.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
This journey has had its huge share of challenges. In fact, 2021 was the best and worst year of my life. In February, as I was planning a small Zoom wedding to marry my best friend, I lost my mother unexpectedly. I was mourning and getting married at the same time. While running a full-time business. BUT GOD.
I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything. I miss her every day, but I know that all things are working for my good and that she’s so so proud of me. I have big dreams of growing this business to help as many women as I can bring their dream to reality and book more clients using social media. Because if I can do it, anybody can.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the CEO of a content coaching business. Our specialty is teaching heart-centered female entrepreneurs how to amplify their gifts by creating content unapologetically. There are so many amazing women doing powerful work all over the world and social media is an amazing tool to showcase their services.
Many times as women, we are scared to put ourselves out there, let alone the business we are building. It is my mission to empower women to be themselves and express their true authentic self in every piece of content they post. Showing up on camera can feel uncomfortable at first but there’s somebody tied to your testimony and the longer we wait to show up, the longer we delay them from transformation.
I’m set apart by favor. I know this is my gift and I lead with all of my heart. I do this because I love it and I know that we’re changing lives. The work we’re doing goes beyond the Wi-Fi.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
No risk, no reward.
Starting this business on unemployment was a risk.
Showing my true self online was a risk.
Not having predictable income is a risk.
Investing in coaching and development programs was a risk.
Moving across the country was a risk.
And if this life that I’m living is the end result, I’d do it over and over again.
