Check Out Ian Ward’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ian Ward

Hi Ian, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story is one of passion, perseverance, and a bit of magic sprinkled in. I grew up in La Jolla, California, a beautiful place by the ocean, and I guess that beauty seeped into my soul because I’ve always been drawn to music and storytelling. From a young age, I found my voice in musical theatre in San Diego. It wasn’t just about performing—it was about connecting with people, telling stories through song, and feeling the rush of a live audience. That was my foundation.

As I got older, I knew I had to take the leap to the bigger markets of LA and NYC. It wasn’t an easy decision—there was the chaos of auditions, the financial instability, and, of course, the dreaded rejections. But that’s the price of passion, right? I dove into it all, from Broadway to mega-cruise ships, from Las Vegas to international tours, soaking in every experience. What’s been amazing is how my sound has evolved along the way—from the energy of rock music with a theatre-based storytelling style—and that blend has become my signature.

I’m also a creator at heart, not just a performer. I recently co-founded Mutual Street Entertainment, where we produce music (my most recent Debut EP, One Shot, just dropped 6 weeks ago!), create intellectual properties, collaborate with brands, and work with other artists, helping them grow and make their voices heard. Our latest collaboration, with For The Record, is The CineVita, an amazing touring venue that’s all about creating immersive musical experiences. FTR is shaping a new future for live performance, where creativity knows no bounds. I feel blessed to have my new company helping them out in anyway we can.

Along the way, I’ve had the honor of collaborating with legends like Pat Benatar, Sir Tim Rice, Idina Menzel, and Ryan Murphy. Their influence has been a guiding force, but it’s the connection with the audience that keeps me moving forward. I’m always looking for new ways to share my music, my stories, and my vision.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth? Not by a long shot. But, that’s part of the thrill. I dove into musical theatre in San Diego, which was a competitive, demanding world—everything had to be perfect, and every audition felt like a battle. Moving into bigger markets was like jumping into the unknown, where you face the gut-punch of constant rejection, financial uncertainty, and an overwhelming pressure to succeed. It was gritty, to say the least. So much rejection; so much “failure”.

The melding into rock music was a natural, yet interesting shift. I’ve had to redefine who I am as an artist over and over again, all while figuring out how to connect with new audiences. It isn’t just about finding new sounds—it’s about finding the courage to be fully myself. And then, running my own company and co-producing CineVita? Let’s just say it’s a whole other beast. Juggling the roles of performer, entrepreneur, and mentor has been exhausting, but incredibly rewarding. The biggest challenge? Building trust in my vision and finding the right team. Every setback only strengthened my resolve.

But, here’s the thing: Every struggle has shaped me. They’ve taught me resilience, humility, and how to keep pushing forward even when it feels like the road is never-ending. Those bumps in the road? They’re part of the story. And, honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a hybrid artist, blending the raw energy of rock with the emotional depth of theatre. Whether I’m performing in front of thousands or collaborating with a new artist to help them find their voice, I’m all about creating experiences that move people. What I specialize in is bringing a certain electricity to everything I do—whether it’s in the studio crafting a song or onstage pouring my soul into a performance. I don’t do anything halfway, and that’s something people notice.

I’m proud of my versatility. I’ve built a career that’s been about constant reinvention, constantly pushing creative boundaries, and evolving in ways I never expected. The launch of my entertainment company, MSE, is one of my proudest moments—it’s not just about me anymore; it’s about giving back, developing new talent, and creating a community. CineVita is also a game-changer. It’s not just a venue; it’s a place where art comes to life in a totally immersive way, and it’s going to change the way people experience live entertainment.

What sets me apart? I’d say it’s my authenticity. I’ve never been afraid to show my true self, flaws and all. I’ve also learned how to take the energy from rock and theater and fuse it into something that feels both grounded and larger-than-life. It’s all about emotional connection—the audience can feel when you’re being real, and I want them to know that every note I sing, every word I write, is me speaking straight from the heart.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I guess, if there’s one thing I’d want people to take away from my journey, it’s this: The road to success is rarely straight—it’s full of twists, turns, and a lot of falling down and getting back up. But that’s the beauty of it. The real reward comes from sticking with it, staying true to who you are, and never losing sight of the things that make you you. And, I am still on that journey.

For all the aspiring artists out there, my advice is simple: Be fearless. Take risks. Embrace your unique voice because the world needs to hear it. And don’t let anyone tell you it’s too late or that you’re not enough. You are.

As for me? I’m just getting started. With the growth of my company and the future of CineVita on the horizon, there’s a lot to be excited about. I invite you to come along for the ride. Let’s keep the conversation going—whether through my music, live shows, or through this amazing community of creators. Together, we’ll keep pushing the limits of what’s possible. Check out my brand new EP, One Shot, and follow me on my socials to get more of a glimpse of who I am.

I can’t wait to see where this journey goes. And I’m so grateful to all the people who’ve supported me along the way. The best is definitely yet to come.
