Check Out Gavin Prophet’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gavin Prophet.

Hi Gavin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve been a musician my whole life. I started out learning and teaching myself drums as a little kid, then began learning guitar, singing, and songwriting as I became a teen into adulthood. I’ve played in a handful of bands, one of which (Lonely Avenue) has been around since 2012 and is still active technically, but I started my solo project as a multi-instrumental Alternative Rock artist at the beginning of 2024 which has been my main focus, most expansive music project yet, and still quickly growing. I spent the last 20 months dropping 1 new song a month and increasing my following among multiple social platforms, while connecting directly with more dedicated fans via shows and live-streaming. Some posts have gained millions of views which has helped streamline the growth of my community. I’m dropping my first album at the beginning of 2026 and just hit 1 million streams on my release, “I’M NOT LAZY”, a song that expands on how Gen-Z and Millennials have only ever known a life of debt because of how this country has been ran by the past generations and generational wealth hoarders. I have a lot of songs that critique the flaws in our system (as well as songs that don’t).

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Throughout my entire music journey (especially in bands), obstacles have been trying to get a group of people to agree on the direction of the project, the song-writing, the show efforts, all the basic stuff that comes with trying to have a group music project. On top of that, the social media sphere can be hard to navigate and at the end, money always gets in the way, but those have all been things to understand and find ways to grow around and still stay true to the art. Now as a solo artist, the obstacles are trying to “be a band” but spearheading it as a solo artist project (I have musicians I work with for shows but the passion and commitment varies cause it’s my solo project than a fully dedicated band). And then even more so, trying to traverse the social media sphere and music scene alone with the funding of only 1 person rather than a group of 4 people can be a heavy disadvantage working solo. It’s bittersweet trying to make it work in a band but same thing goes trying to make it as a solo artist. The tasks take different heaps of work and have their own advantages and disadvantages, but ultimately for me, being the best musician/ solo artist I can be myself will help lead me to my future opportunities!

Being a solo artist, it’s easier to make decisions and hit short-term goals without having other people’s hold-ups get in the way.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a multi-instrumental singer, drummer, guitarist, songwriter, performer – uniquely specializing in singing while drumming, as well as having an explosive and animated stage presence while performing as a frontman. I’d describe my solo artist music as, the best of the early 2000’s nostalgic pop-punk sound with a modern production and more genre-experimental influence, throwing in lyricism that goes from commonly relatable to calling out a destructive exploitive system that most of us find ourselves traversing today.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I think being genuine, sticking up for everyday people like you and I, and bringing as much raw and unfiltered talent to the table is the core of what I am. We’re all in this together. The desire to feel safe being yourself and feeling comfortable in where you live and what you do to make ends meet, hopefully lifting up the entire community with and around you/me. Making music and media that surrounds the idea of breaking down the barriers that prevent a sense of benevolence and prosperity within your/our community.
