Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel King.
Hi Gabriel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My modeling journey started in Indiana while I was working at Abercrombie & Fitch—back when I thought folding jeans was my long-term career plan. At the time, modeling wasn’t even on my radar. I didn’t see people who looked like me in ads, especially not in the ones hanging around the store, so it never felt like a real possibility.
My district manager, however, had other plans. Every quarter she’d come into the store, remind me I should try modeling, and I’d politely brush it off like, “Yeah… sure.” This went on for a while until one day she finally convinced me to do a photoshoot with a photographer who just happened to be traveling through town—for work, I thought. Turns out, I was the work.
The photos came out better than expected, we submitted them to agencies, and the rest is history. I’ve now been modeling for over 10 years, signed in major markets across the U.S. and internationally, and represented by some of the biggest agencies in the world. Along the way, I’ve worked on campaigns for brands like Abercrombie & Fitch, Adidas, Kohl’s, American Eagle, Porsche, Lexus, Target, Walmart, Belk, Nike, New Balance, JD Sports, Express, Bonobos, and more. What started as a “why not?” turned into a career I never imagined—but wouldn’t trade for anything.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
OMGGGGGG no, it has not always been smooth. I will say I’ve been very blessed, but this industry is built on hearing “no.” Especially at the start, rejection was constant. There were so many doors that didn’t open, so many opportunities that passed, and plenty of moments that tested my confidence.
Over time, though, the yeses started to come. Little by little, doors began opening, and I learned that in this industry, rejection is really just redirection. Some of the “no’s” that hurt the most ended up leading me to bigger and better opportunities down the line.
There were definitely moments when I wanted to quit. What kept me going was an incredible support system and leaning on my faith when things felt uncertain. Looking back now, I can clearly see how those setbacks shaped my journey and prepared me for the wins that followed. Modeling is a fickle business, but trusting the process and not giving up makes all the difference.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve been modeling professionally for over 10 years, working across a wide range of projects and collaborating with some truly incredible creatives along the way. I don’t box myself into just one lane versatility has been a big part of my career, and I take pride in being able to adapt to different brands, visions, and teams while still showing up as myself.
I’m honestly proud of all my work. Every job represents growth, trust, and collaboration. One of the most rewarding parts of what I do is seeing my work show up in real life whether it’s family or friends spotting me in stores, scrolling online, or randomly sending me a photo like, “Is this you?” That never gets old.
What sets me apart is simple: I’m me. I’m truly one of one. I bring personality, humility, and humor to every set, which helps create an easy, positive energy while still getting the job done at a high level. I take the work seriously—but not myself—and that balance has allowed me to build lasting relationships and a career I’m incredibly grateful for.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I definitely didn’t get here alone. First and foremost, I give all glory to God. My faith has been my foundation throughout this journey, especially during moments of uncertainty, rejection, and waiting. Leaning on God gave me strength, patience, and perspective when things didn’t go as planned.
My family and friends also deserve so much credit—they’ve been my biggest supporters from day one, cheering me on through the highs, the lows, and everything in between. Their belief in me made a huge difference, especially during moments when I needed encouragement the most.
I’m also incredibly grateful for all of my agents over the years. They work tirelessly day in and day out, constantly pushing me to clients, advocating for me, and believing in my potential. Their dedication, guidance, and hard work have played a major role in my growth and success in this industry.
It truly takes a village, and I’m beyond blessed to be surrounded by people who continue to support, motivate, and uplift me.
