Today we’d like to introduce you to Elyse Haren.
Elyse is an entrepreneur, singer/songwriter, budding producer and music teacher. She got her start singing in choirs and musical theatre and ventured out making her own music. For more than a decade, you could find her playing LA hot spots like the Troubadour and touring the Western United States with her band, Elyse+ the Aftermath.
These days she is writing music for film & television, runs a successful music teaching business which focuses on teaching young girls to play guitar, piano, ukulele and learn music production.
Coinciding with her music teaching business, Elyse is gearing up to launch a new music education company called Chord Pals, which utilizes custom-designed vinyl animal stickers to learn notes and chord fingering for guitar, ukulele and piano.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Anything that doesn’t have a definitive road map can be a struggle. Lucky for me, I love creating something out of nothing. I can make my own road map. I think the key to success is being able to flexible and reshape your dream. I didn’t know when I started teaching music that I would develop vinyl animal stickers to help kids learn music more easily.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I write and produce songs for television and film. I specialize in collaboration with specific writing partners for various projects. Right now, I am working a few projects ranging from 80’s Synthwave to Indie Folk to Orchestral Dark Pop. I am most proud of having my first album mixed by the great Mark Needham (The Killers, Fleetwood Mac, Neon Trees & Chris Isaak). What sets me apart from others is probably my inability to take no for an answer. I always find the side door.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Creating something out of nothing, hearing my husband laugh, the sound of the ocean waves and the rain.
