Check Out Diana De Lorenzi’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana De Lorenzi.

Hi Diana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my journey as a travel and lifestyle storyteller in 2013, turning my passion for photography, design, and discovering the world into my profession.

With a background in Building Engineering and Architecture, I bring a distinctive visual perspective to storytelling. Over the years, I’ve built an audience of more than 400,000 followers and readers and collaborated with international tourism boards and destinations, including California, the Maldives, Australia, Thailand, Oman, and Peru, as well as leading hotels, hospitality groups, and airlines.

Most recently, I was selected as one of only two Italian creators to travel to Peru in collaboration with its tourism board, sharing the country’s extraordinary landscapes, culture, and authentic experiences with my audience. I’m also a Sony Digital Creator Ambassador and have received industry recognition for my work.

Today, my mission is to create inspiring visual stories that go beyond beautiful imagery, capturing the soul of a destination through its architecture, culture, people, and authentic experiences.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. When I started in 2013, content creation was still a very new concept, and many people didn’t understand its potential. In Italy, there wasn’t even a clear professional classification for this type of work.

There was no rulebook, no established academic path, and no specific course to teach you how to become a creator. You had to learn by doing, experimenting, making mistakes, and constantly improving. My background in Building Engineering and Architecture gave me a valuable foundation, from photography and visual composition to graphic design tools and other technical skills I developed during my studies.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning to constantly reinvent myself. Social media platforms, algorithms, content formats, and communication strategies are always changing. Over the years, I’ve seen countless creators emerge and disappear in a very short time.

Today, travel content creation is one of the most sought-after careers among young people, and I still receive countless messages from aspiring creators asking how to enter the industry.

Staying relevant, adapting, and continuing to create after more than a decade in an ever-changing industry has been my greatest challenge — and one of my proudest achievements.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
What I’m most proud of is having found a way to bring all my different worlds together and turn them into something unique, while staying true to who I am.

My background in Building Engineering and Architecture has become an integral part of my storytelling. I’ve brought it into the way I explore destinations, but also into projects closer to home, such as documenting the renovation of my own house, a project that was selected by TikTok Italy as one of the platform’s most representative stories in 2022.

I’ve also brought my creative and design skills into our entrepreneurial project: together with my partner, an entrepreneur and artisan gelato master, I co-own a gelato business. I personally designed our second location near Rome, overseeing both its architectural concept and the development of its food and beverage offering. Alongside the design side, I lead the brand’s communication strategy and storytelling, helping the business grow and gain recognition, including earning a Gambero Rosso Cone, the most prestigious distinctions in Italy’s artisan gelato scene.
In 2024, I also graduated as a sommelier from the Italian Sommelier Foundation (Fondazione Italiana Sommelier).

I think what connects all these different experiences is my approach to storytelling. I’ve always believed that communication should be about much more than sharing information or showing beautiful places. For me, it’s about emotions, meaningful details, and the respect with which you enter someone else’s world.

Whether I’m exploring a remote destination, telling the story of a place, or sharing a personal project, I try to approach it with sensitivity and curiosity, always allowing the story to unfold naturally. Ultimately, what makes my work unique is the ability to blend all these passions into one authentic voice.

Any big plans?
I have so many dream destinations on my travel list, and my next adventure is just a couple of days away! I’m always excited to discover new places, cultures, and perspectives.
It’s a great honor when tourism boards choose me to tell the story of their country. I see it as both a privilege and a great responsibility: to represent a destination with sensitivity, respect, and authenticity, and to share its beauty in a way that goes beyond the usual tourist perspective.

One of my biggest dreams is to take the project I’m building with my partner beyond Italy, sharing the authentic art of Italian gelato with an international audience.
I also have some exciting visual storytelling projects in the works that I can’t reveal much about just yet.

On a more personal level, I would love to design a new home one day and perhaps open its doors to visitors from around the world. I’ve always loved creating spaces where people can feel good, connect, and make memories.

Ultimately, the common thread connecting everything I do is my desire to use social media to inspire people — to encourage them to seek beauty, create it, and bring more of it into their everyday lives. Whether I’m telling the story of a destination, designing a space, or sharing a new project, I want people to feel involved in the process, not simply observe it from the outside. I believe the most meaningful stories are the ones that invite people to become part of something and inspire them to create something of their own.
