Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Hani
Hi Danielle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began as a pianist, starting piano lessons at age 9. Music always fascinated me as a kid, and I went on to major in music during high school. I then pursued composition and conducting studies in Israel, where I grew up. Afterward, I auditioned for Berklee College of Music, received a scholarship, and was able to complete my degree there, majoring in film scoring. Following graduation, I moved to LA, where I’ve since worked as an assistant composer and pianist for Jon Ehrlich on the TV series We Were the Lucky Ones. I’m currently a tech intern at Sparks and Shadows, Bear McCreary’s company.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. After graduation, the job search begins, and without much experience, it’s challenging. Moving to a new city far from family adds to the difficulty, and you really learn to rely on yourself. I was fortunate to find my first job soon after moving, thanks to a friend who needed extra help on his team. Even so, finding new projects is tough. This industry constantly pushes you to be creative, connect with new people, and seek out fresh opportunities.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a film composer currently working as a tech intern at Sparks and Shadows. Previously, I was an assistant composer for Jon Ehrlich, and I also work on my own projects as a film composer. I’ve always had a passion for musical theater and am now in the final stages of composing music for a new musical. Additionally, I’m working on a short animated film and composing music for sound libraries.
