Check Out Dajah Crawford’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dajah Crawford.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Afrodisiac Wellness and Spa is an oasis of relaxation where we focus on improving the health of the skin while working from within, using all-natural products and herbs. In April 2020, as I had just returned home from college, I started to focus on my skin. Prior to attending, I decided to cancel certain foods out of my diet. My skin was flourishing, I was practically glowing, then I came home. The change of weather and the inconsistency in my diet staggered my skin health and I was not happy. I struggled with my skincare routine and the products that could have helped, always contained tree nuts, which I am allergic to.

Then, I set the goal of creating my own skincare line that’s vegan, all-natural and nut free. It is important that I create products that everyone can use. However, I knew there was information and skill I needed to be able to put everything I wanted into my brand. Then, I enrolled in an Esthetics program at G Skin and Beauty Institute. I began my program on March 29th, 2021 and graduated on December 15th, 2021. As of April 20th, 2022, I was officially a Licensed Esthetician in the state of Illinois. After a long six months, I knew a change was needed. I moved to Anaheim, California for a better environment to support my vision.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The process has not been easy and I struggled the most with brand identity. While starting a career in an evolving industry, I am also transitioning into adulthood. Learning myself, establishing personal values and balancing a stable career can be overwhelming. However, I am grateful to have supportive friends and family that continue to inspire me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in corrective skincare for people of color. Skincare is taught very vaguely and continuing education is necessary to perfect the craft. I have made the commitment to educate myself to be able to educate others. Our skin is the largest organ of our body. In order to maintain its health, we have to focus on our diet. How much water do you drink? How often do you drink alcohol? Are you eating nutrient-dense food? Healthy skin is an inside-out job and it’s up to us to do the work.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
The ability to be able to pour a quality of life into communities that are unfamiliar. That means quality fruits, vegetables, water, grains, etc. I want to change the narrative around health and wellness. We all deserve it and we shouldn’t have to settle for the least just because it is all that’s available.
