Check Out Corre Larkin’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corre Larkin.

Hi Corre, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been cooking since my mid-20s and have always genuinely loved it. For years, I would share what I was making on my personal Instagram and save the recipes and cooking videos to my Highlights. Eventually, my friends started asking me to put everything in one place so they could easily find it. I had never even been on TikTok, not even to watch videos, but I decided to give it a try and started sharing my cooking there. At the time, I was still working full-time and owned a defense armor business, so cooking and creating content was something I was doing on the side simply because I loved it. About a year and a half into sharing my cooking online, I sold my business and suddenly found myself at a crossroads. I needed to figure out what I wanted my next career to look like. I had already built this growing community around something I genuinely loved, so I decided to take a chance on myself and go all in on cooking and content creation.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Overall, it has been a pretty smooth ride. The biggest struggle has really just been learning how to do something I had never done before, but I’ve always looked at that more as a challenge and something fun rather than a struggle. Content creation is an ever-changing world, so you are constantly learning, adapting, and trying new things. I think that is actually one of the reasons I love this job so much. There is always something new to learn, and it never feels like you are doing the same thing over and over again.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I feel like I’ve become known for my comfort food dishes, things like potato dishes, chicken au poivre, leeks, and recipes that are comforting but still feel a little special. But what I’m most proud of is that at 44 years old, I was able to completely pivot careers and build a successful second career doing something I truly love. It was such a drastic change from what I had been doing, and I think it’s a good reminder that it’s never too late to start something completely new. Within this new career another huge sense of pride and accomplishment is my book which is coming out November 10th. It was so labor intensive to make and I am beyond proud of it.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
When I was really young, I was incredibly shy, probably up until junior high. I played every sport and was definitely considered a tomboy. By junior high and high school, I was probably not my parents’ favorite child. I had a bit of a mind of my own, but I always played sports and somehow managed to get good grades. I’ve always been a little different and never really felt like I fit into the traditional mold. At a certain point, though, that stopped bothering me. I started embracing the fact that I was different, and I think that has actually become one of my favorite things about myself.
