Conversations with Indeya Dynice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Indeya Dynice

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Indeya Dynice and I am a creator, writer, and producer for a new TV series I have created as an independent producer. I am originally from NJ where I studied Nursing and earned my Doctorate degree in Nursing, however I have always had a passion for storytelling and being a creative. In 2019 I decided that I wanted to pursue my dream of acting and telling stories so I decided to move to Los Angeles. When I moved here COVID hit and things for the entertainment industry begin to change, and being someone who didn’t know much about the industry to start, this was a weird transition to be a part of. I was looking to be a part of other people’s stories and visions even though I had a story of my own to tell. Once I got the courage to focus on creating my own story and putting my own story out there I began my research and haven’t stopped since. Today I am happy to say I am an independent producer on my own project called Dating Positive (+), which is a series that focuses on Dating in today’s world but from a different perspective. I am using this series to create awareness and educate people on Women’ s health topics that don’t get discussed often as well as the perspective of positive sexual health when it comes to dating. The series has been in a few film festivals so far such as the HRIFF film festival where it won an award for Best Episodic, and the Essence Film Festival in New Orleans. The pilot episode to the series will be screened again this upcoming October at the Micheaux Film Festival in Culver City.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing about this road has been smooth lol. There has been a lot of doubts and fear of failure along the way and still that I face to this day. Questions on if people will take me serious, or look at me as someone with no experience who has no business trying to create something in the entertainment space. To date I have solely been the one funding this project to make it come to fruition and be seen by everyone around the world. I have worked 3 jobs both within nursing and as a server in order to have the funds to make this happen. I have experienced people dropping out of the project, not having as much passion and heart in it as me which is understandable, and even having to let people go along the way. It has been a very challenging process from Day 1, but I love every minute of it and I know the hard work will pay off one day.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a full-time Infusion Nurse which is my specialty, although I have my doctorate in Nursing which makes me a Nurse Practitioner. This is the job/specialty I went to school for however, my passion, goals, and dreams have led me to the creative side. I have always been interested in telling stories and acting them out. I did that a lot growing up. As I got older I realized that’s the part of me that feeds my soul and makes me feel complete. So I decided I would chase that passion and dream, and moved to LA to do so. I have since created a concept for my own TV series called Dating Positive (+), which I wrote and produced the pilot for. The pilot has been making its way around the film festival circuit being in festivals such as Essence Film Festival and the upcoming Micheaux Film Festival in October this year. I am most proud of the fact that I created something from scratch and from my brain, My Story, while working 3 jobs and completely funding this on my own. I’ve had a lot of accomplishments but I’m definitely most proud of this one. I think what sets me apart from others is finding a way to merge my specialty and my passion to create something that allows me to tell a story and educate on controversial topics that don’t get talked about enough.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The Covid-19 crisis was the start of my pursuit to follow my passion. I moved to LA in March 2020 in the thick of the pandemic and it was easy to fall in to periods of depression being locked down in a new town where you know very few people. It was a scary and very much unknown time, but it allowed me the time and space to really evaluate what I wanted out of life and what my purpose was. Covid-19 forced me to slow down and look at the big picture and if it wasn’t for that crisis I truly believe my life would probably look a little different right now.
