Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Vaughn Bates
Hi Ryan Vaughn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Back in 2017 I was a college student attending University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. Randomly one night I got an email from the casting department for Shameless and I got called down to Chicago the next morning to do background on the show. That day I decided I wanted to be an actor (it’s always been in my mind but never thought I’d pursue it) and I dropped out of all my college classes. I called my parents and told them I decided I wanted to move to LA. They were a little hesitant at first but I explained to them I would rather go and try to shoot for the stars now while I’m young, and that college is always an option in the future. Eventually they knew they couldn’t change my mind so they started agreeing with me. 9 months after shooting shameless I moved to Los Angeles. The first few years here were some of the hardest years of my life, heck I’m still struggling but I finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve been here 6 years now. I worked in the restaurant industry for a majorly of the time I’ve been here, I also signed with my agent back in 2020 (of course a month before the world ended). The last restaurant I worked at I met my current boss at. He left to go open his own marketing agency and a few months later I joined him having no experience aside from growing up with Instagram/facebook, etc etc. that’s why I started really getting into content creation. We started this Instagram page called Burbank Foods and that’s why I started do my foodie content. So I had been doing it for a year or so and I decided I wanted to branch off and do my own content and that’s what I did. I’m not where I want to be just yet but I’m getting there! Acting is still on my mind and still a goal but this last year has been a year of trying to grow my following in hopes that helps me with acting! Long story short, don’t give up on your dreams!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not. I was in a toxic relationship for a good 3-4 years and that held me back from a lot! I have also struggled financially for years but I keep pushing and I know all the seeds I’ve planted are going to sprout eventually!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a content creator and a foodie! I make food at home, and I also go to restaurants to review food! I’m proud of where I’m at because I’m finally getting paid to do these collabs! I’d say my bubbly personality and the fact I’m not afraid of talking to anyone except maybe a cute boy. I’m funny and I also don’t take life too seriously while also being very professional!
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I would say I’m a huge risk taker. As I told my parents, I didn’t wanna grow old and regret not trying the things I dreamed about.
