Rising Stars: Meet Dana Waldie of Joshua Tree

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Waldie

Hi Dana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Meet Dana Waldie; I am a licensed holistic aesthetician and the spirited force behind Methods + Rituals. Born amidst the buzz of a Michigan beauty salon, Dana’s early fascination with skincare led her to pack her bags at 20 and dive into the glitz of the West Coast’s fashion and film industries as a makeup artist. But I quickly realized that true beauty transcends foundation and concealer. Seeking to marry licensed procedures with mindfulness and holistic practices, I delved into the world of aesthetics, ultimately becoming the lead aesthetician at Vera Bella Skin Therapy in Beverly Hills.

My journey didn’t stop with skincare. A quest for deeper healing pushed me to explore the realms of energy work. Now a certified Reiki Practitioner, Sound Healer, and Breathwork and Meditation Facilitator, I believe in the transformative power of human touch and integrate all of these modalities into my practice. My approach isn’t just about treating the skin but nurturing the soul, using stress-reducing methods to enhance both inner peace and outer beauty.

Today, I continue to share my unique philosophy from Joshua Tree, California, where I live with my husband, daughter Luna, and my two dogs. Under the vast desert sky, I service private clients in the Joshua Tree and Palm Springs areas, performing sacred rituals and spreading her knowledge that beauty is a harmonious blend of skin and soul.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Def not. When I was working as an aesthetician at Vera Bella around 2008 when the economy took a tank I went through financial hardship which ultimately led me to leave the treatment room and work as a cosmetic buyer. I worked for a few different .com companies that were starts ups. That was a roller coaster within itself. Lots of growing pains, long work hours, etc. I then went on to work for professional skincare lines in a sales/education role. Learned a lot but def the corporate grind/golden handcuffs. My husband and I eventually decided to buy a home in Joshua Tree, in December 2019. We thought our home was going to be an investment i.e. rental property/retirement plan. Four months later the world shut down due to covid/pandemic. We decided to relocate to the desert full time during the shut down. During that time it left me having to reinvent myself and start my own business; Methods + Rituals. Attempting to launch a spa/wellness business during the pandemic was no small feat. Here I was launching a business while so many businesses were shutting down. But I am so happy I did! Fast forward 4 yrs later I have a thriving business.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My unique blend of expertise in skin care and energy healing offers a comprehensive approach to beauty and wellness. I integrate advanced skincare techniques with energy healing practices to create personalized treatments that address both the physical and energetic aspects of my clients’ well-being. My commitment to using natural, high-quality products and cutting edge modalities ensures that my clients receive the best care possible.

How do you define success?
When work doesnt feel like “work”. Loving what you do!
