Today, we’d like to introduce you to Jared Price.
Hi Jared, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Deciding to be an actor came later in my life, I must say. I had done theatre in high school, but when I was graduating, I figured that was it and that it was time to pursue “other passions”.
After one year of community college, I knew studying voice and music was where I needed to be, and the stars sort of aligned after that.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been the easiest road, that’s for sure! I’m very thankful for the opportunities I have gotten and some of the roles I’ve gotten to play on the stage, but you definitely hear way more noes than yeses.
I remember hearing that statistic of “you’ll get 100 noes before you get that one, yes,” and I’m a testament to that, ha! The rejection is and will probably always be the hardest part, but if you love it, you must keep going and find a way to keep the joy alive in auditioning and working on the craft.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
Currently, I’m known as a Southern California-based Stage Actor, and I think even saying that title is something I’m proud of. It took a while for me to get used to saying I’m an actor when people asked what I do for a living, only because that’s really not where my bills get paid from.
Even now, it can be a weird feeling saying that because my last job… well… let’s just say it wasn’t last week! But even if you’re working consistently or in a lull period where you just get to train, that’s still part of the job!
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Patience. Patience. Patience. Being an actor is not for the lighthearted. It takes a toll on you mentally, spiritually, and physically.
I’ve had my fair share of moments where I thought, “Is this even what I should be doing?” but I kept working hard, and something always lined up. I’m a firm believer that what’s meant for you will not pass you by.
