Community Highlights: Meet Cynthia Alvarado of Night Baby Care LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cynthia Alvarado

Hi Cynthia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hi! My name is Cynthia Alvarado and I identify as she/her. My journey in Baby Night Care began in 2011 when a dear friend of mine, who is a Doula, recommended that I take a Doula training course. At that time, I had no idea what a doula was, but I was fascinated when she explained it to me. I loved babies and was excited to work with them and nurture families in their postpartum journey. When I took my doula training, I was eighteen and pregnant with my son Julian Alvarado! Julian was my first experience with newborns, and it was an incredible experience for me. As I was young, a new mom, and had no work experience, I struggled to get work. I eventually got started as a part-time daytime nanny. Later on, I began doing night nanny work while still working daytime. I slowly started building my experience and resume and eventually started working full-time night-time only as a postpartum doula. Since then, I have continued my education in newborn and postpartum care, becoming a Certified Doula, a Certified Newborn Specialist, and a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist. I’ve also earned a degree in Child Development, specializing in infant care. I have been working with families for over ten years now, and I absolutely love it! I have combined all my careers to provide personalized care that fulfills each family’s unique needs. I offer emotional and lactation support, education, resources, empowerment, and nurturing for the whole family, as well as baby care services. If you need any help or support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’m here to help!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I faced significant challenges at the beginning due to my age and lack of experience, as well as having a 6-month-old baby. However, I persisted and attended numerous interviews until I finally secured a part-time nanny position, for which I am incredibly grateful. I worked part-time during the day and part-time at night until I was able to transition to working full-time as an overnight doula. I developed a strong bond with the families I worked with, and I genuinely miss them. However, the children have grown up, and the families no longer need my assistance. From the start, the families knew that my passion was to become a doula, and they understood that I had a son. I am thankful that the families supported my goal of becoming a doula, allowing me to work nights and giving me the flexibility to take my son to work with me or take time off when needed. I can say that I worked day and night for 6 years, with two different nanny families, to get to where I am today.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Night Baby Care is known for our diverse training in various specialties, enabling us to offer personalized services. We prioritize the needs of families and develop customized care plans. For instance, if a mother’s main concerns are sleep and breastfeeding, we can create a plan for her to exclusively breastfeed during the day and pump at night to extend her nighttime rest. We stay with the baby in a separate room and bring the baby to the mother just before leaving so the parents can sleep peacefully. While our primary focus is on the mother and baby, we can also assist with other small tasks by agreement and if time permits, such as feeding and walking the dog in the morning, loading the dishwasher, doing laundry, or caring for the baby and toddler during date nights. We pay attention to the little details that can help parents relax and de-stress.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I would love to work and collaborate with other people. If you are interested, please give me a call.
