Meet Heather Kornman of The Golden Triangle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Kornman.

Heather Kornman

Hi Heather, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
How The golden triangle started is a lot like asking where I started as The golden triangle was born from within me. I grew up in The South Bay playing at the beach most days, getting hosed off and riding home in my mom’s VW bus, playing and exploring the deepest depths of the mud my brothers and I could dig to in our front yard, tunneling, and exploring all the Earth had to offer in between the concrete jungle which we lived. I loved making flower chain bracelets during recess and counting the blades of grass while I played right field during softball. As I grew, I continued to explore: the mountains, oceans, deserts, rivers, and beaches. What became clear was I was in love with The Earth and all its elements.

Through this love, I began exploring with gardening and growing food with whatever space I could find. I grew sunflowers, pumpkins, kale, banana trees, and beans. This has continued to grow into a passion, a calling to share with others that we can grow food for ourselves and our community. I am wild and free in the garden and continue to experiment and play, now digging tunnels for seeds and worms to grow food for nourishment.

Falling in love with The Earth, it only seemed natural to see how I can care for her. I began learning about Non-Toxic living, using less and less chemicals in all areas of my life, and then wondering how I could live creating less waste in all areas of my life, and specifically less plastic! I began shopping in the bulk bin market for all our pantry staples, and snacks, preparing package-free granola bars, and snacks for our family, and traveling distances to refill our household products at a refill shop NOT so nearby. Traveling such a distance to a refill shop was not feeling sustainable …

Through grounding myself with kundalini breathwork and meditation, it became abundantly clear the next path was to create The golden triangle. A place where we can gather in community to fall in love with The Earth, to care for her, to learn to garden together, to fill up on products for ourselves, our home, our world that are made naturally with zero chemicals, and all the love. A place to find community with local makers, dreamers, and creators. To support these creatives, and use locally made, handmade products in our day-to-day lives.

Yes, I began building off of this vision, doing the soul work, getting all the pieces together to form this puzzle into reality. Every piece of the puzzle has been important to opening The golden triangle, and I am excited to announce I opened the doors of this brick n’ mortar space for The golden triangle in February 2023, and here I am…

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A smooth road you ask? Well, driving on the same road over and over, or a really long road will eventually have some bumps along the way, some roots that reached and wiggled their way right into our path, or rather we wiggled our way right into their path …

There have definitely been some ups and downs during this journey, and I do my best to welcome them as learning opportunities for growth and expansion. I also do my best to take these challenges and all the details of life and business one step at a time. Yes, if I look back about ALL the different pieces of the puzzle it took to create The golden triangle as ONE BIG piece, it’s SO much, too much. However, I just took it one step at a time, one piece of the puzzle at a time and it continues to come together more and more.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
