Today we’d like to introduce you to Coze.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I first started learning about the camera and editing because I wanted to be a professional dancer/choreographer, but finding someone to record my videos was the biggest challenge at the time. So, I just learned everything myself and within exploring the film world, it sparked a new passion of mine. Leading me to create Cozeclips. Cozeclips was initially just for my dance visuals but I loved helping people tell stories through dance and music that it blossomed to a full media production service. As a freelance director, DP and editor, I’m still early in my career but I am proud of the progression thus far.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of the biggest struggles were just being away from family. I moved across the US to live out my passions and it gets hard around holidays and birthdays when you are away. But life is always going to have ups and downs. Have you heard the story of the Chinese farmer? Well, that’s how I like to view obstacles and challenges.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a freelance Director, DP, editor and dancer, operating a media production service that specializes in unscripted and scripted content. I am also the co-founder, alongside Billi Sarafina and Symone Holmes, of the(Blank)Collective, which is an all-women and women-identifying led production house specializing in creating quality content and creating a safe space for women in film.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Trust your instincts and follow your gut! Sometimes you can’t see the finish line but you have to believe that it’s there. When I decided to quit my job and step more into becoming a freelance, I didn’t know what I was doing but I knew it was something that I had to do. Trust the process and bet on yourself.
