Exploring Life & Business with Jor-El Caraballo of Viva

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jor-El Caraballo.

Hi Jor-El, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Me and my business partner Rachel started Viva a few years ago as we felt that mental health care was still difficult to access for a lot of people. As we continue to grow our team with new providers in new areas all over the country, we continue to prioritize individualized mental health care with trustworthy therapists, flexible scheduling and reasonable fees.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like most companies, we’ve certainly faced some challenges, particularly over the past few years. Dealing with COVID, both administratively and just as people, has been hard. We’ve had to be flexible and be sure to continue to listen to what our clients are telling us in what works for them in accessing therapy support. We’ve also seen a drop in the amount of businesses and organizations looking for presentations and workshops for their teams as so many industries are still dealing with, and recovering from, large-scale economic changes.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Viva?
Viva is an exciting business because take the work we do as mental health providers very seriously, but we’re also not too traditional or stuffy. Therapists are people too!

We like to meet clients where they’re at and we’re so fortunate to be able to offer sessions, presentations and free resources to help people take care of their mental health and wellness.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I think people might be surprised to know that both me and my business partner Rachel started in community-based social services in New York City. We have a lot of experience working with people within their immediate communities. We bring those experiences and knowledge with us in understanding how incredibly diverse clients’ lives and experiences can be!
