Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Culverwell.
Hi Kristin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After an inspiring trip to Thailand in 2016, wanderlust hit us hard and my husband and I decided to move with our three-year-old daughter from our long-time home in Baltimore, MD to Los Angeles. In 2018, I started looking for more community and a creative outlet and decided to host creative workshops and aromatherapy classes in my backyard. I love making things and, even more, organizing events. It was a fun way to explore my interests and allowed me to meet and connect more with people. I popped up a website and was hosting a couple of workshops a month, primarily aromatherapy but also macrame, watercolor painting, and I even hosted a weekend weaving retreat in Joshua Tree.
In late 2019 I was hired for my first event at a private party for Avocado Mattress. This was an exciting evolution that allowed me to create a unique and immersive aromatherapy event experience. Looking back, I realize it drew upon the experiences I had been creating with people in my backyard. It all felt very personal, natural and exciting, which is why I knew it was something I needed to pursue.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
My business has evolved pretty smoothly aside from Covid grinding it to a halt for 2 years. During the pandemic, I was too busy getting my child through school during lockdown to worry about what to do with it. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if I would come back to my aromatherapy business after that. And there were no events happening, so I figured I would just wait and see. I left my website up anyway and then at the end of the summer in 2021 the phone started to ring again and it’s been pretty consistent since.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a creative entrepreneur. My business, Wish Wellness, specializes in providing aromatherapy and holistic event activations for parties large and small.
My goal is to make each interaction with a guest a beautiful, immersive wellness experience so they leave feeling better and have learned a little bit about something that is meant to help them feel good.
What makes you happy?
#1 cute cats make me very happy. But in all honesty, I think to be happy I need balance and a healthy mind. When I have that, I find I am more at ease and creative. So happiness is making time for myself, connecting with people on a deep level, traveling, exercising, cooking, and good times with my family and our two sweet cats. If I get to do all of these things, I feel abundance, and feeling abundant is a very happy place to be.
