Rising Stars: Meet Cindy Lord

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Lord.

Hi Cindy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
During the pandemic, I had lost my job as being a nanny. Just a few months prior, I had bought my first used camera, so I thought that was the perfect opportunity to learn a new hobby now that I had all that free time. I spent every day pulling out my tripod and taking photos of myself, my sister or brother and just playing around with my setting to learn how to use my “new” camera. I never thought it could turn into what it is now, but I’m so happy to call Photography my full-time job!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not! This business was really started from the ground up. I had nothing but a cheap $200 camera and YouTube to teach me everything that I know. It was really a trial and error start. I knew no one in the industry, had not too many friends to support me (thankfully, my husband and family have been super supportive). Even growing my social media, which is a huge part of my business and how I get my clients, I remember getting to 100 followers was a huge milestone for me. I was SO happy to have all those people support me. Now I have 1.1K followers and I still can’t believe it!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a Couples and Wedding photographer based out in LA/ OC! I’m proud of all the work I’ve done and all the people I’ve met! Looking back on my work, I can see how much I’ve grown, and I’ve only been in business for about a year!

With photography, I feel like there are sooo many talented photographers in the industry, but what sets me apart is ME! There’s no one like me! And that’s what my clients love. I’m a genuine person who loves their job and loves making people feel confident while having fun along the way!

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Just a 22 years old girl who dropped out of college who had no idea what I was going to do with my life. Now I have so many people supporting me, I’ve met so many amazing people, and now I’m booked for three months out! I really could’ve never expected to be living this life, but I love it!
