Meet Carmina Guzman of Carrshair in Whittier

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmina Guzman.

Carmina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
|After High School, I was unsure about what I wanted to do but I had always been passionate about doing hair. After looking into different fields and weighing my options, I knew Cosmetology was what I wanted to do. I enrolled into Bellflower Beauty college in 2013. I can honestly say that I learned most of the techniques I know now from them. After Beauty school, I got my license and I started working at a beauty salon. Building up my clientele has been very challenging. It is not about how many clients you work on per day, it is about how many come back because they like your work. With a lot of hard work and long, very long shifts I’ve been able to build up a pretty stable clientele.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not everything has been so easy. I encounter obstacles every day. It is always different with every one of my clients. I have learned how to handle each challenge accordingly.

Please tell us about Carrshair.
The services that I provide are haircuts for both men and women, hair colors, high lights, balayage, updos. I specialize in women hair colors which is what I believe I’m most known for. I would say as a hair stylist the proudest moment is when I finished the service and the client absolutely loves what I have done. That honestly is the most amazing feeling because they appreciate what I was able to do. My clients are my main priority. I give my clients the treatment that they deserve when they are sitting on my chair, I think that is what sets me apart from other stylists.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I could have done things differently, I would have wanted to finish beauty school faster. Because of financial reasons I was unable to finish school within the time frame that is expected. By finishing school faster, I would have more things accomplished than what I have done now.
