Meet Natascha Dammann of Language Door in Encino

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natascha Dammann.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Natascha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was hired as a German teacher at Language Door in Irvine in 2009. Later that year, I started working with the office and in 2010 part of my responsibility was to get involved and overlook the different locations, When the previous owner wanted to retire two years ago, it was an easy decision for me to take over the business.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is not designed to be led by smooth roads, knowing this makes everything easier.

Working at Language Door has been a passion of mine and that’s how I had run the locations for years.

My biggest struggle is to grow into the role of a business owner, which entails many different aspects and tough decisions at times, which not always can be made by the heart. It is a challenging learning process.

Please tell us about Language Door.
Language Door is a private language institute, with 3 locations in Encino, Irvine and San Diego,
We provide all kind of language services in over 35 languages from teaching children and adults in small group classes or private settings, to working with Corporate clients and different schools. Translation and Interpreting services are offered as well.

I am very proud of our dedicated teams at all locations, who help students and teachers every day with their caring and professional attitude. But Language Door’s biggest pride is our teacher team. Our teachers are not only native experienced instructors but conduct the classes with passion and enthusiasm. We are only as good as our teachers are, that’s why we are focused on building the strongest teacher teams in the areas at all times.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I grew up in a little village in Germany, south of Hamburg. Looking back at a playful childhood in nature, with no devices and lots of freedom compared to children today, I appreciate the way I grew up. Every day was an adventure. Fights were fought, problems were solved and at the end of the day, friends had each other’s backs.
