Crystal, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
With my previous background in the corporate industry, I could’ve never predicted my career and passion would’ve led to the beauty industry. It wasn’t until I personally got permanent makeup for my brows three years ago that sparked an interest for me to pursue this industry. I’ve always wanted to help others and with the confidence it gave me, I knew I wanted to empower others to feel the same. I decided to save up to enroll in a class and absolutely fell in love with it. What started to be my part-time hobby has now turned into my full-time career.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a business owner definitely has it’s struggle, especially in the beginning. I was working a full-time job while doing brows in the evenings and weekends so there was no days off. The only time I had to practice and perfect my craft was late nights but the time seemed to pass by so quickly because I would get mesmerized in the beauty of it all. The demand for constant content also seemed overwhelming and there was no way to predict how many clients I would have every month. I was quite hard on myself but throughout time and the support I received from my family, friends, fellow brow artists and most importantly satisfied clients, it motivated to succeed and find ways to become better. I turned to more trainings to perfect my craft, research in-depth to grow my knowledge to offer my clients and worked on my time management to produce more content for viewers. Getting immersed into doing better, my craft was finally at the standard I wanted it to be and before I knew it, I felt like all of my hard work paid off.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about xoBeautyBrows – what should we know?
xoBeautyBrows specializes in permanent makeup mainly ombre powder, microblading and combination eyebrows. We now offer training for those that want to start their career in this industry and in the coming months we will also be adding the popular service of lip blush to our services. These techniques help clients save time daily and most importantly enhance their natural beauty giving them the utmost confidence, which I am most proud of. Seeing clients overjoyed reactions to their transformations and the boost of confidence they receive is an indescribable feeling.
I believe being a perfectionist, my style and the knowledge and care I give to my clients from start to finish is what sets me apart. I thrive on assuring my clients are comfortable from when they inquire with me to throughout the procedure and up to their final result; while educating them every step of the way.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I believe what is most important to my success is determination. Though there were doubts and bumps on the road, I found that what started out as a hobby turned into my passion and I couldn’t give up on it. It became an obsession for me to always improve myself for my clients and I believe in time and the effort I put forth, it became so rewarding.
