Meet Steven Joseph

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Joseph.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Steven. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story as a rapper didn’t start till I was about 20 years old. Before that, while growing up in Vegas, I was writing verses in high school but I didn’t feel it wouldn’t take me anywhere or take off. As time went on, my friends in Vegas who were already making music, heard some of my verses and asked me to start collaborating with them. I began to do shows as a feature and I started to notice how people were responding to my story through song.

Around that same time, my brother, Jordan Joseph, started to work with me to create our own sound. Since then, I have been blessed with the opportunity to have my songs played on multiple radio stations in Vegas, work with artists around the country, and have had my music played in an arena at a Golden Knights game. It has been a rewarding journey thus far and I am hoping to continue to inspire others with my story as well.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road so far has had its share of highs and lows. The biggest challenge during any music journey is being consistent when things are not going your way. Building a fan base, it can take a while before things start to happen. Sending music out to try and get your music in front of the right people can also be tiring as well, especially if you are an independent artist like myself. I find it very important to celebrate your small accomplishments along the way. If you can focus on the smaller goals, you will eventually get to where you want to be.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
With my music, I focus on storytelling and bringing the music to life with visuals. At the beginning of the year, we made a series called “Stay at Home Sundays,” where I freestyle over instrumentals from Erykah Badu, Pete Rock and CL Smooth, Lupe Fiasco and more. My brother and I also recently started another series titled “Please Stand By.” where we release original songs with a visual every week. I enjoy bringing the viewer into a full experience from start to finish, whether it’s live at a show or when they are listening or watching at home.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Looking forward to doing live shows again. In 2020 I have released two projects and I have been really excited to share these songs live with the public and hopefully to go on tour in 2021. I am also excited to work and collaborate with artists around the world, which is something that’s in the works as we speak. Just trying to find ways to spread our motto “Fulfill Your Gifts.” across the world and encourage others to fulfill their gifts.
