Meet Dolly Nophaenkham of Honey Dove Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dolly Nophaenkham.

Dolly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started off as a Newborn photographer, portraits, etc. I am also a fitness instructor. Working with people taking their photos and also teaching classes to women really made me realize that I want to also do photography for women. As females, we already are so hard on ourselves because of stereotypes and with society always portraying that is sexy and how a women should look like. I use to train fellow mommas like myself and I got to see that I wasn’t the only one that was so judgmental with ourselves. We are our biggest critics and it’s hard enough to hear it from others. I started Honey Dove this year, and it’s more than just Boudoir. I just wanted to do something for women to make them feel amazing, beautiful, worthy and just like the queen they are.

Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, color, vibe, etc. I want to empower women through photography to tell them see themselves in their true beauty. I had a client who told me that a male well-known male photographer didn’t want to shoot her boudoir session because he said she didn’t fit his portfolio and that he doesn’t shoot women with her look became she was in his eyes, overweight and not model material. This triggered me because who is one to say if a woman is model material or not. So here I am, with honey dove wanting women to feel like badasses!

Has it been a smooth road?
I was very nervous at the beginning because I would get people giving me their input with how I should shoot and the type of women, style, etc. Some even told me that I should reach out to hot bloggers to make me have more likes. I’m not reaching out to anyone for more likes because my goal is to empower women not to kiss anyone ass or beg to shoot so I can get more followers. The struggle also is that I am a single mom and I have had other ladies telling me that I shouldn’t photograph risky photos because it will make me look bad as mom. I had to tell myself that I am my own judge and I would never do anything to hurt my children and this is something that I want to do. So basically, I have to just not care what others think and gotta keep doing me!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Honey Dove Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am so proud of Honey Dove along with my other photography business, because I get to focus on empowering women. I feel what sets me apart for others is that I let the client tell e what they want and what they envision. Some have come to me and want to do a certain theme but is too embarrass to ask or think people might think it’s weird, but I always tell them, ” Girl F what they think cause we gonna do you boo boo! ” Whatever makes them feel sexy and boss I am going to try to achieve it. No set style, etc., because this is their shoot so it’s their style!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I live in Orange County, and I don’t like how people are so judgmental here and always give the look when they are expressing themselves where it’s from their tattoos, piercing and how they dress. It’s way too conservative in my opinion. The good thing about my city is that they are quite frankly a handful of women that wants to always do a sexy shoot and want to step out of their comfort zone!
