Meet Jennifer Collins of GPK in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Collins.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My start in the industry began with modeling, commercials and theater. At age 16, I started modeling locally in Pensacola, Florida. Then, I moved to New York and modeled with top agencies. My modeling and commercial income assisted me with paying for Acting classes with Susan and John Strasberg. I was able to act in some off-off Broadway theater. Later, I moved to Los Angeles and continued with modeling, commercials and theatrical productions. In a class taught by Ivana Chubbuck, I learned how to truly use myself in my acting. Ivana helped me to put together a couple one act theater productions with talented actors such as Julian McMahon and Allison Eastwood ( her father Clint Eastwood even attended) at the Coast Playhouse. From there, I started to work in films.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Honestly, acting has not an easy road. No artist I have ever met has made it struggle free, myself included. One gift I learned, whenever I’ve been given the No word. I’ve worked on my craft even harder.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with GPK – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Teaching, actually, helped me to become a better actor. My dear friend, Eva Mendes, encouraged and helped me to take this path. Our mutual acting coach, Ivana Chubbuck certified me as an acting coach. I taught young actors at Ivana’s studio and have continued to teach, currently, privately, on-line. I am supportive, inspired and proud of each of my students, both present and past. Over the years, the parents keep in touch with me. Not only have the students gone on to act, write and produce, above all, achieving an excellent education. Also, I am proud to have done stand up comedy at some of the major clubs in Los Angeles. I love comedy. Finally, I became a member of Group Reperatory Theater in North Hollywood. I’ve been able to work on several plays and cabaret evenings. All of this assists to keep an actor’s instrument going.

Outside of the acting world
I am super proud of my horses!!!
Especially, one of them has gone to the world in Barrel Racing!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Yes!!! I have finished the ADR for the film, STARF*CKERS, directed and written by Mark David! I am very happy with my work on this comedy. Mark was an inspiration to work with. Acting with Erik Fellows and other greats was a wonderful gift.

Earlier this year, I played Lincoln’s step mother and helped produce LYCEUM, a poignant short film about Abraham Lincoln’s anti slavery speech, Directed by Dianna Ippolito and written by Brett Lark. So happy we are winning awards With this. Recently, Dianna Ippolito, the films Director won best female director in the Vegas film awards. She and I have joined forces on production with several films. Next up, NAKED, the Marilyn Monroe (Jocelyn Saenz) and RFK affair. I play Marilyn’s agent, Pat Newcomb We are, currently, in the editing phase with a very special academy award winning editor. Working with Dianna has encouraged me to continue to do projects that I love and can learn from.

I look forward to working more as an actor, producer and acting coach.

Planning is not realistic with this career. I have been fortunate to find an excellent team of people whom I work well with. My career has been more guided by faith, hardwork and prayer/meditation. I am so grateful for all who have been there for me
