Meet Leeza Felix of Facesbycocolee in Antelope Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leeza Felix.

Leeza, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve had a love for makeup as long as I remember could be as way back as secondary school (I’m originally from Trinidad and Tobago but didn’t pursue it until I moved to the states back in 2012, I really grew a serious obsession when I couldn’t sleep due to the time difference between the islands and California, I would stay up countless hours watching YouTube learning the different makeup techniques and ways to apply foundations and color matching, realizing that I really wanted to make a serious career out of this I decided to get my certification to learn the proper sanitation and business aspect of the industry.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, I’ve had a very huge hiccup that almost made me give up my love for the craft, I had my second child in October 2014 and he was diagnosed deaf at three weeks old, with all the doctor’s appointments, therapies and services it got a bit overwhelming, I got discouraged and thought that this was going to be my life being a full-time caretaker to my special needs son, but as time went along things got better and with the endless love and support from my husband and sisters and I’ve been able to maintain a healthy balance of my passion and my son’s needs.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Facesbycocolee – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in bright bold colorful vibrant colors, I stand out for being this extra vibrant individual who loves to help and make each and every client /customer feel their best no matter situations or circumstances. My goal is to not only have them leave my chair looking beautiful but to also for them to leave smiling. I’m most proud of the determination I took to get my business started.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My future plans would be to expand and travel for my job, I would love to one day work on a movie set my ultimate goal it to be a makeup artist in the movie industry.
