Meet Natasha Freutel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Freutel.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Natasha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been an active person, but if you asked me ten years ago if I’d have my own personal training business right now I would have laughed at you. In college, I studied Kinesiology, worked at a couple of gyms for fun and worked out because I wanted to stay in shape. I never saw myself in a career as a personal trainer and rather focused my energy towards healthcare and choosing a career that was stable, consistent and reliable. I then went back to school to become an Occupational Therapist which led me to where I am now in California.

At 24 years old I picked up my life, moved to a place I’d never been and started a new career. Talk about a fresh start. I then adopted the healthy living mentality that California is known for. After my daughter was born I started a blog, mostly because I needed an outlet to keep my mind busy. This blog turned into an online business. Which then turned into me taking local clients and eventually owning my own training studio with a full schedule of private clients. Sometimes I feel like I just fell back into this career but deep down I know that it has been calling me all along.

Has it been a smooth road?
My biggest struggle has been balancing my time between my job as an Occupational Therapist, Personal Training and life at home. After going through a messy divorce I found myself at rock bottom…doing a lot of things, but none of them well. This is when I decided to focus my energy into my fitness business again. Throughout the disaster that was my life for a while, I lost a lot of clients and abandoned any sort of marketing to get new ones. Once I was able to focus and move on I had a newfound energy for getting it up and running again. I knew that I was very good at what I do and it was just a matter of making that known. So I resurfaced and grew my clientele to what it is today, with an awesome gym to go with it! A lot can change in a year and I couldn’t be happier.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I specialize in postpartum fitness and rehabilitation. As a mom, I know how difficult it can be to get back in shape after having a baby from both a mental and physical standpoint. I use my background in rehabilitation to help women gain back core strength and return to exercise in a safe manner, avoiding injury. It truly takes extra training and knowledge to work with clients during pregnancy and postpartum. I spent years researching, taking courses and learning from other experts so that I may best serve my clientele. I specialize in healing diastasis recti (ab separation) and treating issues such as low back or shoulder pain. I am able to push my clients in their workouts to get the results they want while focusing on proper form to avoid injury. I also offer online and hybrid programs (combining online and 1:1 training) to appeal to all budgets. It’s so rewarding and I’m extremely happy I chose this niche to focus my energy on.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Unclear. Unfortunately, personal training is a luxury service and heavily affected by economic times. That being said, I feel people are more in tune with how important health and fitness is and are making it a priority above other things. Therefore, I feel it should continue to grow as an industry. There has been a big shift towards online or virtual training, which is interesting and definitely an area that I am currently exploring.
