Meet Norma Campos of Hippie Mystique in Whittier

Today we’d like to introduce you to Norma Campos.

Norma, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Hi! My name is Norma I started my journey with crystals about four years ago. Growing up my mom was always into crystals collecting rocks everywhere we went. I kind of thought she was just crazy (look at me now). A few years ago I was unexpectedly pregnant (best thing that could’ve happened to me) and fell into really deep depression. That’s when I started my healing journey.

One day my mom and I went to a farmers market and she asked me to pick anything I wanted from a crystal vendor and not knowing much about crystals I chose Rose Quartz only to find out that’s exactly what I needed for protection during pregnancy and self-love. That’s a day I fell in love with them. When my daughter was born our mother’s daughter Friday night ritual was to going crystal shopping to a local farmers market. One day I told my mom I’m pretty sure I can make this stuff! I started playing with wire and posted a picture of a pendant I made and someone asked how much I was selling it for and that’s where it all began.

Has it been a smooth road?
My biggest struggle for me was letting go of a job I had for eight years and another side business I started a few years back. They will forever have a piece of my heart. I feel everything we’ve done in life happens in order for us to get to where you’re supposed to be. I feel life took me in a different direction for a reason. What started off as a hobby is now my full-time job and it’s amazing! I’m so grateful I get to do what I love and I get to watch my baby girl grow something I was so worried about from the moment I found out I was pregnant. My husband, family and friends have been my biggest supporters from helping me babysit when I have events, to helping at my booths supporting me in everything I do.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I make energy healing crystal jewelry, rings, bracelets wire wrapped pendants, intention sprays, I sell crystals and incense. I usually do pop up shops on the weekends and flash sales online. A few things I’m most proud of are; I handpick every single stone I work with, wire wrap and make my jewelry with intention and people trust me with their spiritual healing. I spend hours crystal shopping finding the perfect pieces for my people. I also love that I get to work with my family, my mom helps me make earrings and kids jewelry, she or my aunt will occasionally pop up at my events and help me out and my three-year-old goes crystal shopping and to the post office with me once a week. I’m so blessed!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I grew up in El Monte and currently live in Whittier. Whittier is a great city for any business so many events and people here who help each other up!
