Today we’d like to introduce you to Quinn Cooper.
Quinn, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up playing piano. My love and knowledge of music lead me to explore recording and sound design. I became fascinated with synthesizers and digital audio workstations, and shortly after, I went to study audio engineering at Musicians Institute in Hollywood. It was in that program that I was first introduced to post production sound. The craft came to me naturally because of my interest in sound design and audio editing. Luckily, there was a teacher of mine who asked me to help at a new studio he was opening- Enhanced Media. I started helping with a little bit of everything. As business picked up, I was left with more responsibilities. I grew into the role of project supervisor. I also worked closely with the owner to develop the business. Six years later, the business has grown tremendously. Currently, I am the chief of operations and supervising sound editor.
Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. There are many challenges beyond the craft of sound design. Learning business, how to sell, maintaining customer relationships, managing deadlines, and leading a team of fellow editors are a few examples of things that I did not anticipate I would be doing when I ventured into audio engineering. Adapting to unexpected challenges with no prior experience has been the most stressful and challenging part of earning a living from sound.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Enhanced Media – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Enhanced Media is a post production sound company. We record, edit, design, mix, and produce sound for film. We work on many independent films, short films, series, and commercials.
What sets us apart is that our main focus is on creating an environment where people who are passionate about sound and film can exercise the craft that they love. My hope is that Enhanced Media acts as a platform that enables creative people to achieve their artistic goals.
I’m most proud when customers share their appreciation for the work that Enhanced Media has done.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Living in Los Angeles, I feel like all of my needs are met. Artistic people from all over the world unite in LA. There is no shortage of healthy restaurants and health-focused people. The outdoors and sunshine is inviting and warms my mood. We are spoiled with options in Los Angeles.
It’s difficult to think of something I dislike about LA. Perhaps that it’s easy to get isolated into your own niche and difficult to mesh with people outside your circle.
