Today we’d like to introduce you to Aiva Genys.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I knew for a long time that art and design were my passions. After graduating from art school and business school, I decided to work in the finance field for some time, seeking stability and putting my passion on the back-burner for a while. Yet, after some time, I realized that it was not fulfilling at all to be sitting in a desk job, day in and day out. I wanted to be challenged – to create, to use my artistic skills, and to capture the beauty I saw in the world around me.
When I delved into digital photography, I instantly fell in love with the allure of it. All around me were limitless opportunities to express the world’s moments through my eyes and through my lens.
Photography is my life, I love what I do, and I am so lucky to be able to do it for a living.
To me, everything in life is an expression of art that reflects our personalities – the way we dress, walk, talk, smile, and love. My vision is to create beautiful images that show what is beneath the surface, the story of your life, and the timeless expression of your own personality.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Choosing to give up the stability of my day job in order to take the risk of starting my own artistic business was a daunting task. I had to start from scratch, create my brand, and build my clientele on my own. I won’t say it was easy, because from the very beginning it was a true challenge. But I have never been one to back down in the face of difficulty, and so I persevered through even through the days that made me wonder if I had made a mistake in quitting my desk job. However, when I heard back from my clients on how happy their photo sessions made them, how it built their confidence in themselves, it reinforced my passion and drive, and reminded me why I do what I do.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Aiva Photography – what should we know?
My passion is to work with people – I love being around people and capturing the moments of emotion in people’s lives. My goal is to bring value to people and brands. Therefore, I capture business professional headshots, corporate photographs, actors headshots, model portfolio images, and product photography.
I also love families and those unique and most important moments in everyone life. I photograph engagements, maternity, newborns, and more.
I also love doing women’s beauty and boudoir photoshoots, to show women’s courage, beauty, and help women to celebrate themselves. The photoshoot is personalized and comfortable for each client – I listen to them, offer my suggestions, stage their wardrobe and accessories, and create one-of-a-kind albums for their keeping. For my clients, this has been the most stunning gift for either themselves or the men in their lives.
I’ve been lucky and my art photos have been published in magazines in USA, Canada, and Europe: Modern Luxury, Ritz-Carlton, Child Model, Pure Petites, Kid Model, Young Kids Fashion, which has proliferated the number of people interested in my artwork. I’m excited to see where my art takes me in the years to come!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I am a perfectionist in my field, and so I strive to create the best quality image there is. Because of my positive, fun attitude when talking to clients in staging their session, I am able to effectively listen to their needs, offer suggestions, and make the photoshoot a natural experience for each person. That’s the secret to a great image – of course, a lot of excellence in each image comes in post-processing, but crafting a superb original image is key!
