Meet Christian Nunez of KEEPLOOKOUT

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Nunez.

Christian, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up in Pomona, Ca I’ve always been a trouble maker who liked to push boundaries and overall just create. I was always getting into trouble I really did not mellow out until I finished junior high. In high school, my hobbies included skateboarding, doodling, video games and playing on the basketball team. During sophomore through junior year, I sold candy to make my own money. This taught me how to hustle.

When I graduated, I took some time off and began to take up hobbies that were not necessarily legal and were accompanied by aerosol paint. I meet a lot of talented people, and the rush of creating in the shadows of darkness called to me. This hobby took over my life for about four years. We would take turns keeping watch if the spot was hot and often say “Ay keep lookout.”

After a few years of college and a change in majors from game art to graphic design. I took a break and eventually dropped out. I decided to work, pay off my debt and began to pursue my passion for creation through the brand name KEEPLOOKOUT.

Has it been a smooth road?
It is definitely not a smooth road trying to be an entrepreneur. I think the hardest part is self-belief and actually getting started. To start something with very little is challenging. I have struggled with failed projects, and have had financial issues. Life happens.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the KEEPLOOKOUT story. Tell us more about the business.
KEEPLOOKOUT is a creative brand. I focus on creating content with other creatives as a collaborative effort. I make my own designs for merchandise. I also make custom 1 of 1s. I work with artists of all areas to create.

I think I am known as a pretty optimistic and open-minded person. I just love to create. I am proud of stay authentic and true to my roots. The brand is pretty much just about the things I like, and I think they are worth making a bigger production around.

What sets me apart is that I am just passionate about the creative aspect. I do not need the money or the recognition. I am creating for myself.

Where do you see your industry going over the next 5-10 years?  Any big shifts, changes, trends, etc?
In five years I am hoping that I will be up and running more smoothly along with a bigger team and network.
The industry is pretty saturated from the clothing aspect.

I have also noticed a lot more LA creative space pop-ups so now is the time to cash in because it will be getting saturated.

A lot more micro brands are also saturating the market, Trends at this moment include Depressive quotes on T’s, Deconstructed clothing, Loud colors and having customizable options.
