Today we’d like to introduce you to Madeline Johnson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Madeline. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been inspired by the art of creation and when I saw social media begin to become a huge outlet for this passion of mine, I knew I wanted to become involved. I constantly fawned over the Instagram models and pretty girls I saw, telling myself I would not be good enough… I would never be pretty enough. However, I wanted to try for the sake of creativity and the hope of being able to change the world somehow. I began taking photos with friends and just become saturated into the world of art, photography, and the industry. As I’ve begun to take photos, I decided my flaws don’t make me ugly nor strange, just unique. And in this world, if you are unique then you have something special to offer to the world. Why should I worry about how I look if I’m having a good time creating content and building myself up as a person? I’ve almost been doing this for a year now and I have to say, my confidence has gone up and I feel like I’m finally taking steps towards my goals.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not!!! It’s so much hard work, dedication, and research, haha! 🙂 I’ve cried so many times because of not having the right resources such as a giant modern house to photograph it or not having the money to travel for business. However, the point is to NEVER GIVE UP. Never, never and never. If you give up, you’ll look back a year later and wish you would have kept going. If I would have given up last year, I would still have 10k right now… yet, now, here I am, only one year later, with so much more skill, passion, and 150k followers… never give up on something you’re passionate about.
We’d love to hear more about MaddsMaxjesty.
The thing that sets me apart from others, I believe is my ability to create content that will also inspire others while simply showing people who I am. I don’t come from a family who knows much about my job, I do have depression episodes, I’m anemic, and I have scoliosis (that’s not even half of it!). I want to inspire people to take care of themselves and have fun working out or doing things that most people don’t enjoy, haha. It seems as if most teens around me just have fun partying, etc. and I want to show people that your business plans, be just as fun as yesterday’s party (sounds lame but it’s not, I promise).
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Don’t listen to other people’s opinions. They really do not matter. Please just live for yourself and be able to say that you accomplished your goals (even when everyone said you couldn’t). Again, the next most important thing to do is to never give up. Never.
