Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Lee.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Brian. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In my early 20’s I went to work for corporate America and I’m very relieved my story didn’t end there. After a few years of that corporate nonsense, I knew that wasn’t for me but I had no idea what I wanted to do. I had gone to college, but no major and out of the blue one day I saw an advertisement to become a dog trainer and I immediately signed up and began replicating their military approach but after a year I decided to go off on my own. That first year was remarkable- successful off the bat and I didn’t know at the time that I had found my calling, but it became evident.
Steering away from “tricks for treats” training and military-style training proved to be what people were missing and by providing my clients with the knowledge of dog behavior became the key to success. I made some changes to my training style by incorporating my psychology studies, philosophy and personal experiences in what would later evolve into my own unique program. My program has transformed thousands of dog’s lives and their relationship with their owners over the past few decades.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Has it been a smooth road? Surprisingly, yes. I’m grateful that by honoring my calling, everything fell into place.
Way of the Dog – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I call myself a Dog Trainer but I’m a Behavioral Counselor. Dog training is something I don’t feel is very important because teaching dog’s commands or tricks for treats doesn’t have anything to do with the issues you’re experiencing. The program I developed is Behavior Training. I specialize in raising and developing mentally healthy dogs, which means they are: calm, grounded, centered, happy, relaxed, feel safe and secure.
This year I was voted 13 years Best Dog Trainer, a true testament to the magic happening. I’m extremely proud of the amount of goodwill I have in the community because of how much I’ve been able to help people with their family (obviously family=dog too).
I’m not a cookie cutter trainer, I didn’t attend a two-day seminar, watch Cesar on YouTube or print an online certificate and decide that I’m a dog trainer. What sets me apart from other trainers is my vast knowledge, unique approach and by working with owners to help them become experts with their own dog.
